I’m excited to be sharing in the STAMPtember fun today with Simon Says Stamp and Altenew as the brand new STAMPtember exclusive stamp and die set is revealed. You can catch the new stamp and die set “Beautiful Lily” here: https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/altenew-stamptember-exclusive-stamps-and-dies-sssd112678c?c=2393 (also available as a stamp set https://www.simonsaysstamp.com/product/altenew-stamptember-exclusive-stamps-sss302574c?c=2393). Isn’t it gorgeous!!

I of course had to no-line watercolor this beauty, and I used Altenew’s 36 Pan Watercolor set and Brush & Fine Tip Pens to color in my florals. You’ll also see I did a little tweaking to the image to show you can extend the length of that flower down your card panel if you need to!

I first stamped the Lily image down on coldpress watercolor cardstock – I used the Brush Pens to color in the stamp outline on my MISTI using Firefly and a quick swipe of the Blush Crisp Dye Ink Pad. I then wet a detailed paintbrush and brushed on paler colors using the 36 pan set, starting with pale green, then dropping in darker green, mixing it up on the pallette itself, and building up the layers. For the darker shadows I added Evergreen Brush Pen here and there, blending out with a damp brush.

For the petals, I did the same again, coming in with a pale pink first, then dropping in darker and darker colors and blending out. For the detail I used a fine line of a darker pink from the pan. I also used the Honey Drizzle and Maple Yellow Brush Pens to draw in the flower stamens (which I’d painted around). I also added lots of splatters with each of the colors I’d used.

If you look carefully, you’ll see I have three additional leaves on my stem. I actually wanted to keep my card one layer but had stamped my florals slightly higher up on the A2 panel of watercolor paper than I’d like. I therefore extended the stem by freehand drawing two lines down towards the edge of the panel with the Evergreen pen, and then colored it in like the rest of the stem itself. I then overlaid the stamp on the stem to see which leaves would look good, and scribbled a little Evergreen pen onto the leaves selectively here and there and stamped them one by one. No masking needed even, as you can just blend out any extra lines when you paint in the leaves!

I finished the card by heat embossing the sentiment in Simon Says Stamp Antique Gold embossing powder on black cardstock, and scattered a few Satin Gold Sequins here and there. I trimmed it and mounted it onto a white notecard with double sided tape.

Love this set, grab it while stocks last – this one will likely go quickly!! Happy STAMPtember!!
