I was super lucky this month to get a sneak look and play with the February release from Waffle Flower Crafts. Release day is today for the new release and I’ll be showing you projects I created throughout the week!

My first card today features the Potted Lily and awesome Plaid Texture die embossing plate. I love this plate – it is sturdy like a die cover plate, but dry embosses a textured pattern into a piece of cardstock. Even better, it will die cut out an A2 size panel at the same time to ensure the texture is perfectly lined up. I used Moonrock cardstock which is a light colored kraft type cardstock for a more vintage feel and embossed it with the plate by running it through my Gemini JR.

I wanted to use Potted Lily stamp set to do some no-line watercoloring. It’s such a fun image, and the large pot leaves lots of possibility for embellishment. I stamped it in a pale grey waterproof ink onto hot press watercolor cardstock. I then used Mijello Mission Gold watercolors to watercolor the image.

I used a variety of indigo and purples with some pink glazing on the petals themselves, and some teal blue-greens on the leaves. This color combo is one of my favorites for flowers. I added yellow-orange in the centre, and deepened up the nooks and crannies with super dark indigo for contrast.

For the vase, I used indigos and purples again, and then added some more orange-brown for the earth in the pot. I also added a little bit of embellishment with a white gel pen and a few purple splatters over my textured panel.

When dry I die cut the Lily out with the co-ordinating die. This is such a detailed die, it cuts intricately around the petals perfectly. I popped it up onto my card panel with foam squares. I also used my MISTI to stamp the Thank You sentiment from the set in black ink. By using my MISTI, I was able to stamp it a few times to ensure I got a crisp impression despite the textured background. I added a few Sparkling Clear sequins to finish and backed it all onto a 110lb white notecard.
