Purple Floral Mother’s Day Card | Gina K Designs / Brutus Monroe Collab

Hi Everyone, I’m excited to be sharing some fun collab news today – Gina K Designs and Brutus Monroe have teamed up to create a fabulous pairing of a new stamp set – Seeds of Joy – and something I’m SUPER EXCITED about – brand new embossing powder Wisteria Lane, a beautiful purple color. These products are available ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY at Gina K Designs, Brutus Monroe, and Simon Says Stamp.

I was lucky enough be sent these by Gina K and I’m sharing my project today to coincide with the release. I also used the new Brutus Monroe Stick and Stamp Mat – this is awesome for holding your cardstock in place when stamping – perfect for use in the MISTI!

I used an A2 panel of watercolor cardstock and applied it to the centre of the Brutus Monroe Sticky Mat after placing it in my MISTI. I treated the panel with a powder tool and then stamped the main floral from Seeds of Joy with embossing ink, hanging slightly off the edge of the panel. I sprinkled with Wisteria Lane powder and heat embossed it. I then re-placed the panel, and re-stamped again in the bottom right corner, heat embossing again. The Wisteria Lane powder has a lovely glossy sheen to it, and is so pretty in real life – I tried to do it justice in the below photo so hopefully you can see what I mean.

I used my Daniel Smith watercolors in a variety of blues, greens and purples/pinks to paint the floral, adding lots of layers, with a muted tone. I let each layer dry before painting over the top. I also painted the background a pale gray blue, and added lots of splatters – if you add them when the background is still wet they’ll wick out more and add ‘texture’. If you add splatters when dry, they appear more like sharp splatters. I did a mix of both then when dry, I trimmed down the panel to just a little less than 4.25 x 5.5″ to leave an eighth inch border.

I placed the panel back in my MISTI and stamped the Mother’s Day sentiment in black pigment ink directly onto the panel. I added a few purple crystals to embellish and then mounted the entire piece with fun foam onto a white notecard using double-sided tape.
