Hello everyone and welcome to DAY 1 of Altenew’s 8th Anniversary Blog Hop! I’m so thrilled and honoured to be once again part of this anniversary hop. This is my third time celebrating, and the FIRST as a full time Design Team member (still can’t quite believe that when I put it in black and white!). I’ve crafted with Altenew products since Vintage Roses was released. Layering stamps were a brand new thing and that set was always sold out everywhere! In 2019 May asked me to guest design on the BAF Bellflower and you could have heard my happy squeals miles away!! I created in a guest capacity for Altenew most months since then and was amazed and grateful when I was asked to join as DT member in September 2021. I think when you love creating with a brand personally it really shows through 🙂
For my project today, I wanted to go glam, and dramatic, my favorite combination. I also love Altenew’s gorgeous embossing folders and geometric dies so I’m featuring both today. I first die cut the intricate section of the Starlight die from white cardstock, and using an ink blending tool and Amethyst Crisp Dye Ink, used the die cut like a stencil and blended it onto the centre of a panel of white cardstock, fading out towards the edges.
I die cut the Starlight die once more time from Gold Mirror cardstock and adhered it to the white die cut for sturdiness. I then adhered it over the ink blended area using thin pieces of foam tape in the large areas of the die cut, slightly offsetting it over the ink blending so the white outline can be seen below.
I then die cut a panel of Jet Black cardstock using the outer die of the Starlight die set. After die cutting, I ran it background my die cutting machine using the Mod Squares 3D embossing folder. I placed this over the top of the gold die cut using foam tape and adhered the panel to a white notecard.
To finish, I used one of my favorite sentiment sets from the year – Sentiment Strips 3 and stamped the ‘Be Fearless’ sentiment in matching Amethyst ink – I love how it pops against the black. Finally, I added a few gold enamel dots to give my Starlight die that ‘metal’ look to finish.
