Hi there everyone! I hope you all rang in the New Year with joy in whatever way you wanted! We were unfortunately in COVID quarantine the entire festive period, but lots of home time for crafting! Today’s post features the brand new Vintage Galore Collection released today from Altenew and is part of a blog hop. If you didn’t land here from Erum Tasneem‘s blog, then I recommend heading over to start on the Altenew Blog.

You may already have seen my first card for today – Folk Flowers was released on 29th December as part of a mobile exclusive set of layering stencils, coordinating die, and a cute little mini stamp for adding little accents. The background features the new Dotted Tile Debossing Cover Die, which I used on a panel of Real Gray cardstock.

For the floral itself, I first used the stencils to do some ink blending. I blended Azurite heavily on the stem and up into the leaves, leaving some white space. I then blended Fuchsia from the edge of the leaves into the Azurite to get a little pop on those leaves. I used the leftover Fuchsia to blended the base of the flowers, and then Fresh Lemon for the top of the flower. I went back in and added a tiny bit of Fuchsia blend between the two, which looks almost terra cotta where the colors overlap.

I added the stamped leaf veins and stamens using the mini stamp, using Enchanted Gold Pigment ink. I then die cut out the flower (it’s the main one in the centre of the stencil) with the coordinating die and again from purple craft foam, adhering them together and popped onto my background. The ‘You’re’ is stamped in the same gold ink and is from the little stamp set. The ‘charming’ die is a nice addition to the coordinating die set and I cut it from Gold Mirror cardstock. As a finishing touch I added clear Nuvo Drops to the stamens, and scattered a few Satin Gold Sequins.

My next card features the awesome Golden Days Simple Coloring Stencil. This is four layers, and creates a huge beautiful floral that just pops off the page. I used Pastel Sunrise, Peach Perfect, Coral Berry, and Ruby Red. For the centre I used Enchanted Gold Pigment ink.

I kept my card one layer, stamping a large sentiment from the Note For You stamp set (from an earlier release) in Obsidian Pigment ink. I also added the “hey, girl’ from the new Sentiment Strips 3 stamp set. These sets are are awesome as standalone sentiments, but I also think they work well as an addition on bigger sentiments like this.

There is also a Golden Days Hot Foil Plate – I hot foiled it with a gold holographic hot foil onto watercolor cardstock. I watercolored it with inks (Fresh Lemon and Fuchsia) smushed onto a palette. The foil resists the paint, making it super easy to watercolor. I also added some green / brown depth to the centre, then fussy cut it out.

The sentiment is from Sentiment Strips 3, heat embossed in Pure White onto Jet Black cardstock. For the background, I overlaid two strips of Foiled Marble Washi onto white cardstock, then mounted my flower onto top with foam tape, hiding the seam. I finished with some Antique Gold sequins to tie into the foil in the washi.

My final card today features the Golden Days stamp set. I stamped out the Golden Days floral image using Magenta, Fuchsia and Baby Pink. I used Pistachio and Forest Glades for the leaves which I stamped directly over the floral using the coordinating masking stencil. The outline is Jet Black. I added a little Buttercream and Pumpkin Pie to the centre of the flower, then die cut out the flower only. I used the Dotted Tile Debossing Cover Die over the top of the stamped leaves and then re-added the floral back over the top (using the card base note card for the flower to adhere to).

My sentiment is from Sentiment Strips 3 heat embossed in white. I also overlaid it on the Fancy Yey, die cut from holographic cardstock. I finished with a few iridescent crystals. This technique gives gorgeous texture to some of the image and the background, but keeps the main flower flat and acting as the main focal point.
