Hi everyone! It’s that time of the month when Altenew unveils it’s newest addition to the Craft-A-Flower family. This month it is the turn of the African Daisy! If you landed here from LauraJane‘s blog, you’re headed in the right direction. If not, you can start at the beginning of today’s inspiration hop over on the Altenew Card Blog.

The Africa Daisy has an almost whimsical vibe to it. The die set contains dies to create two open flowers and a bud – but I didn’t stop there! I decided to create an big beautiful bouquet of blooms for my cards, die cutting each of the large florals and the leaves twice, as well as a bud. I wanted to create the flowers in contrasting colors, so chose shades of blue and pink from my scraps – using three different shades for each. The centres are all the same, to tie the flowers together, using a shade of yellow, orange and Altenew Gilded Glitter card stock for a little pop of glitz.

With all that color, I decided to keep the leaves and stems neutral, using kraft cardstock, that blended a little into the background. My background is Spicy Yogurt cardstock, die cut with the Dotted Tile Debossing Cover Die – it adds interest without bulk, and a pretty neutral background for the backdrop for my bright bouquet. I adhered the stems first with glue, then arranged my main flowers here and there until I was happy with them, adhering them with a double layer of foam tape. I slipped the leaves in here and there, folding at their score line for dimension, and adhering with liquid glue. I also popped the bud in at the top to add balance.

For the sentiment, I used the Essential Sentiment Strips die set, using the Gilded Glitter cardstock set with black cardstock behind it so that the sentiment is easily read. I mounted with foam tape and then finished with a scattering of Antique Gold sequins here and there.
