Hi friends! How has your week been? Here it has been pretty busy, and it’s almost time for spring break – I’m very much looking forward to putting my feet up for a week! Spellbinder’s latest April Clubs have been setting the social media alight and I’ve got two projects to share today that feature April 2022’s Embossing Folder of the Month and Small Die of the Month.

This month’s embossing folder is ‘Radiant Burst’ and it dry embosses a glorious sun burst, radiating out from a central ‘sun’. Because these are large scale folders, you can orient the centre of the burst in different areas of an A2 panel. I dry embossed two A2 panels of Onyx black cardstock, moving the panel around in the embossing folder to orient the central burst in two different places. I also added lots of gold metallic ink splatters using a paintbrush dipped in gold shimmer spray.

I die cut all of the sentiments from the April 2022 Small Die of the Month ‘Gift Border and Sentiments’, first in Gold Mirror cardstock, then twice more from thick white cardstock. I layered them all together with glue and set aside with an acrylic block on top.

To create the gifts, I first die cut both the main die from the set, and the two outline dies (all arranged onto a gold mirror panel) to create the gold outline. I also die cut several of the ‘ribbons’ from the gold. I die cut just the outline dies from white cardstock, then adhered the two together.

Finally, I created a quick watercolor panel by swiping pinks, blues and purples across a panel of watercolor cardstock, letting it blend together but leaving some white space. When dry, I die cut the presents again, and then paper pieced all of the inner parts of the gift boxes into the gold outline.

When complete, I popped the ‘ribbons’ on top, then added foam tape to the back. I angled the gifts off to the left hand side of the landscape embossed panel, cutting off the excess with a guillotine trimmer. I then adhered what remained to the right hand side of the portrait panel.

I created my sentiments by arranging the words – there are a surprising number of different combos you can get from these you know! I adhered them by arranging around the gift image on both cards, and then finished with a small number of Gold Mix Color Essential Gems to finish.

I love the look of soft watercolors against the dramatic black background – a fun but classy card at the same time don’t you think?!
