Hi Everyone!

I was playing with the Spellbinders Large Die of the Month from April today to try out my new glittery die cutting plates for the Platinum 6 (they’re SO sparkly!) and I found that I could create a vase! I thought I’d take it through to conclusion and ended up with a large bouquet on a 5×7 card by using the loose flowers included in this month’s die set.

To create my card, I first die cut the wavy mesh looking die towards the edge of a panel of blue cardstock. I ran it through my machine, then flipped it over, lined up the central circle with the one already die cut and ran it through again. To die cut out the shape, I used a second border die from the set, this is the one with a straight edge and dots. I ran it through twice, aligning it a couple of milimeters out from each of the mesh dies. When the piece popped out it looks a little like a masquerade mask!

Before creating the vase, I used the Stamp of the Month to heat emboss the Hello and Thank You sentiments in gold onto one side, about a third of the way down from the flat end. I then bent the piece back on itself (not fold) and stitched the top together with gold thread – it loops right through the holes.

I then used the flower dies and leaf dies to embellish. I die cut the leaves from mirror gold cardstock, and the flowers from four different shades of pink. I adhered the large blooms onto a small square of scrap pale pink cardstock which I then adhered with a strip of strong double sided adhesive to the back of the vase.

I arranged the flowers and leaves all over the ‘vase’ with liquid glue and foam squares, being sure to hide the scrap piece, and adding a few around the sentiment. I then adhered the vase to a rustic cream note card with liquid glue. I couldn’t resist adding flower centres using the Fashion Gold Embellishments to finish.

I love this curvey look using the dies. The Spellbinders Glimmer of the Month for April has similar effects, which can be used in coordination with the borders in the Large Die club set. Here I have used them on their own, hot foiling with Rainbow foil to get a fun look, and then die cutting with the coordinating border die.

I kept my card super clean and simple by adding a Matte Gold foiled sentiment from the set and then mounting the entire panel with foam tape over the top of some holographic patterned paper I had in my stash from an older Spellbinders card kit. I like how these go together, and the yet keep that clean and simple look.

I hope this gives you some inspiration to play with your dies and see if it opens up new avenues that you wouldn’t have thought of at first!
