Hi Everyone!

Spellbinders has a new collection released today – Merry Stitchmas! LOVE ;D It has a plethora of gorgeous new stitchable dies, some with a holiday theme, and I’m featuring the Stitchmas Tree die on my card today.

The die comes in two parts, both the same size, and they can be used separately or layered on top of each other. The base layer is a solid tree, and the top layer can be stitched, but also lets the underlying layer peep through. I used a strand of pink variegated DMC floss to stitch all of my stars – they appear to change color as the floss changes from pale pink to hot pink- one of my fave types of floss to stitch with, as it takes a lot of the guess work out of color choices, (and I don’t have to worry about switching off to a new thread each time I switch color).

When my stitching was completed, I adhered the panel (which I’d die cut from white cardstock) onto pink glitter cardstock cut with the solid tree layer. I used Bearly Art Glue, and lay the tree under a large acrylic block to adhere it flat. You can see the glitter cardstock peeping through and doesn’t it pair beautifully with the thread!

For adding glitz, I also added the teeniest crystals from the Crystal Mix Color Essentials Gems into the centre of each star (plus one for the planter).

For my background, I did some. simple ink blending using Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress inks, flecked with water and a little rose gold shimmer spray for glitz. I die cut the panel with the Nestabilities Essentials Rectangles, and mounted it with fun foam onto a white notecard. The tree was adhered with foam tape for a little extra dimension.

My sentiment is from the Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Glimmer set, glimmered in Bright Pink foil onto glossy black cardstock and popped up on a foam strip to finish.

Be sure to check out this new collection and all the fabulous new thread available directly from Spellbinders! Get stitching!
