Hello Everyone!

Have you seen the wonderful Celestial Zodiac Collection from Spellbinders yet? It has Glimmer Hot Foil System plates for all of the Zodiac which include birth months and a little hot foil sentiment of key traits for people with that star sign – great for birthdays! I’ve made two cards today which feature star signs for me (Taurus) and my husband and daughter (Libra)!

To create my cards I first made the backgrounds. I used an A2 panel of white 100% cotton letterpress cardstock and an A2 panel of black cardstock. Using my Glimmer Hot Foil System I foiled the new Celestial Star Background onto each of the panels. It easily foils twice held in place with washi tape. On the white, I used Matte Gold foil and on the black I used the gorgeous Speckled Prism foil.

I used the Nestabilities Essentials Rectangles dies to die cut the dots and the outline around each of the panels, then adhered them with foam tape to note cards – black behind the white panel, and white behind the black panel. This allows the different color to peep through that dotted border.

I then used the smaller rectangles in the same die set and die cut two small panels from each of the same colors of cardstock. I lined up the Libra image and birthdate plate onto the black panel and hot foiled it with the Speckled Prism. I did the same with the white using Matte Gold and the Taurus plates. Originally I’d planned for these to be all white or all black cards, but after the foiling I decided to switch around the colors to match the base and give that centre panel more pop. I adhered them to the centres of the card panels with more foam squares.

I also decided to hot foil the coordinating ‘sentiments’ and the cut out the strip and pop it up on a foam tape strip. I thought this balanced out the card and added extra dimension. Don’t you just love the simplicity of this two tone, almost monochromatic look?

The Celestial Zodiac Collection from Spellbinders also has some fabulous stencils including one of the Moon I just have to grab – it’s fab! Go check it out!
