Hi Everyone!

Have you ever needed a card in a very short space of time and just didn’t have one in your stash that fit the bill? Or there was only a few minutes left for a card challenge you reeeeallly wanted to take part in but what could you possibly make in that time?

We’ve all been there, definitely me, and so every so often on my blog I’ll be posting a card that you can make in approximately five minutes, that still packs a punch. I say ‘approximately’ because you know, sometimes that darn blender brush has vanished, or your children / partner / pet demand your attention a minute after you sit down to craft. I can’t help you there 🙂

My first in this series features a stamp and stencil from the recent Hello Sunshine release from Catherine Pooler Designs. Start to finish it took me less than five minutes.

First off take a pre-scored white notecard, and place the Flourish and Whimsy stencil over the top. Using a blending brush, lightly blend Melon Ice in the centre and fade out. Then grab Garden Party ink and blend in the centre again, but just gently, fading out into the Melon Ice. Remove the stencil and stamp the sentiment from Catherine Pooler Designs Sunshine Flowers in light grey ink twice (I double stamped Twilight using my MISTI) or dark grey ink once (you could try Black Jack) in the centre. Card done!

I love how soft yet fresh this turned out! I have linked to all of the new Hello Sunshine release below, which includes the stencil, stamps, a host of other goodies AND CP Minis in Life of the Party colors which include those I used here!

One of the techniques I love to use for quick cards, is focal blending like this – it adds interest while keeping it clean and simple, and is so super simple. A big or detailed sentiment works directly over the top for a one layer card, keeping it quicker than even a separate sentiment trimmed out, and has the added benefit of letting all of the stencilled image show through.

I’ll be back with more 5 minute cards in the near future!
