Hi Everyone!

Brrrrr it’s cold this month! We’ve had ice and snow recently and honestly I’m not really into being outside in the cold – how about you? Can I interest you in a brand new Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit to warm you up? This month the kit features Feathered Lilies and we are of course showcasing the kit with a blog hop and giveaway. If you didn’t come here from Vicky Papaioannou‘s blog, you can head on over to the Altenew Card Blog where the hop starts – and I’m also featuring a new VIDEO over there using the kit!

Floral beauty and messages of love all in one! The stamp set features a beautiful bouquet of lilies, elaborate leaves, and baroque elements. The minimalist style is a colorist’s dream, as it provides plenty of open space to add coloring and shading. Not a coloring enthusiast? Our coordinating coloring stencils make adding color sweet and simple. Finally, we have maximized this stamp set with tons of sentiments so you can stay in touch with your loved ones.

For my card on today’s stop, I decided to do some watercolor resist – watercoloring with Crisp Dye inks for a little change. I first heat embossed the floral stamp image on watercolor cardstock – this is a huge stamp image by the way! I wasn’t sure how I was going to trim it down so stamped the whole thing first – using embossing ink, and heat embossing with Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder.

I watercolored the flowers with Crispy Dye inks, first smushing them down a little onto a plastic palette, then picking some up with a wet brush. For the petals I used Rose Quartz for the lightest parts, added a little depth with Puffy Heart and darkened it up with Rhodeolite (which I also used on the stamens). For the leaves I used Frayed Leaf, Green Opal and Evergreen in the shadows. I then die cut out the flower with the coordinating die. I recommend using plenty of tape to secure it given how big it is!

For the background, I used a panel of white cardstock and stamped the florals a couple of times in Silver Lake. I also added a few Silver Lake splatters with a little added water. I then adhered the watercolored Lily over the top with foam tape and trimmed off some of the excess, leaving a little extra where it formed a whole leaf or the bud.

I then stamped the sentiment in the top right using Obsidian Pigment Ink, and finished with a few iridescent sequins.

  2. Stunning card! The watercolors of dark and light contrast give it a realistic affect. It looks so elegant, kind of like wanting to paint this as a mural in a baby nursery(girl) of course.

  3. I have lots to say! This is another beautiful card; the lilies are perfectly done and having part of the flower off the card edge is awesome. Also, water coloring by transferring stamp pad ink to a palette! I’ve smushed inks around, but only to get an abstract look. I will definitely try this. Thank you for all of this!

  4. The size of the blooms really make the image standout. The way you have them popping off the top of the card makes them look like a real bouquet, not to mention the gorgeous, delicate coloring!
