Good afternoon everyone! It’s been a busy day today – busy relaxing! My daughter and my husband treated me like royalty for mother’s day (including planting a Weeping Cherry Tree in our garden which I’m excited about!), which leaves me just enough time to of course do a little crafting.

Today I’m featuring the May Spellbinders Small Die of the Month – a set of dies that all fit together to create an A2 card front. They’re super intricate and elegant, and with the wheel die, gave me a bit of a nautical vibe, so I chose a classic navy and gold color scheme. I’m also pairing them with sentiment stamps from the May Clear Stamp of the Month.

For my first card, I die cut the main arch die twice, once from Mirror Gold cardstock, and once from navy cardstock. I then adhered them together slightly off set with the gold on the bottom, so that peeped through. The precision tip on the Bearly Art craft glue is perfect for this application! I mounted the arch onto a white notecard with thin strips of foam tape for dimension. I then die cut the wheel from gold mirror cardstock and adhered to a circle of the navy cardstock then popped it in the centre.

I stamped the Happy Birthday from the set in black ink at the bottom, and finished with lots of Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems on the border and the wheel. I love how classy this looks in these colors, great for a masculine or grandparent’s birthday!

For my second card, I used the arch from the die set, and layered it with navy and gold like I did for my first card. I repeated this once more so that I had two arches. I then adhered these directly to a panel of white cardstock, flipping one around and overlapping it with the other to create a slimeline frame. I left it as A4 at first until I had the arches adhered, then trimmed it out leaving a white border. It was about 4.25″ x 7″. I then stamped the main sentiment in the middle in black ink. This is also from the Clear Stamp of the Month for May.

I created two wheels as I had before and mounted them on foam tape on either end. And then because I thought it was missing a little something, I layered two of the base border dies in the set and mounted them to the edges. Once again I embellished with some Gold Mix Gems, then mounted onto a custom notecard (7 x 8.5″ scored at 4.25″).

I love how you can use these dies in unexpected ways to build up a card – and it isn’t always fully planned!
