Hi Everyone!

I’m sharing a card today I made using the Hello Sunshine release from Catherine Pooler, with a fun technique that creates an embossing overlay over ink blending. I’m using WOW! White Pearl embossing powder to give a pearlised finish to the ink blending!

To create my card, I ink blended in random places over the Flourish & Whimsy stencil, letting the colors overlap. I used Tiara and It’s a Girl.

Before it dried (after removing the stencil), I quickly heat embossed it with WOW! White Pearl embossing powder, and you can see in the photo the wonderful pearly sheen it gives. You can also push an embossing ink pad through the stencil before you remove it if you’re ink blending with ink that you can’t emboss with.

I adhered the panel to a white notecard. I die cut the main Whimsical Blooms flower die three times, and then stamped the corresponding images from the Whimsical Blooms stamp set. I used Sweet Sixteen for the petals, Twilight for the stems and detail, and Tiara for the stamen. I find it easier to die cut this image first, so I can see exactly where I need to stamp. I stamped several leaves in Mint to Be and the veins in Twilight.

In order to anchor the flowers on the embossed panel, I created some custom cardstock by swiping an It’s a Girl ink pad over some white cardstock and then die cut with one of the Fitted Frames dies which I then adhered to the centre of the panel. I used a smaller Fitted Frame to die cut some of the Whimsical Blooms Patterned Paper which I stamped the main sentiment on in Black Jack ink, and popped up on foam tape into the centre. I then arranged the stamped blooms around the frame with foam squares.

To finish off, I scattered some of the Phoenix and Charleston sequins over the panel.

I just love how the White Pearl embossing powder adds a gorgeous sheen to the blended panel. There is a monthly challenge going on over on the WOW! Embossing Fans Facebook page and for August the theme is Pearls – go check it out!
