Hi all!! HAPPY NEW YEARRRR ! It’s 2023 – are you ready for a brand new release from Altenew – because I am!! January’s Nostalgic Memories Release is full of fun stamps, dies and embossing folders, featuring florals, patterns and sentiments – including some wonderful die sentiments that will surely be a new stash staple! You should have been sent my way by the wonderful Seeka – if not, you can pop on over to the Altenew Blog to start the hop from the top!

I have some fun projects here to show you and hopefully there’s a little something for everyone! My first is a fun ‘action’ card which features the Stained Glass Medallion die.

I die cut the layers from Jet Black, Solar White and Gold Mirror cardstock twice and then adhered them together, placing the two layered sets back to back, sandwiching gold thread between them.

I trimmed Jet Black panel of cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″ and scored at 5.5″. I then die cut a window out of the front using the rectangle from the Mix and Match Frames. I trimmed another panel to just smaller than 4.25″ x 5.5″ and dry embossed it with the new Carnival Canopy 3D Embossing Folder. I then adhered it to the back of the window panel folded notecard.

I die cut the two main outer frames from the Mix and Match Frames from Solar White cardstock then adhered to the front of the window card. For the sentiment, I used the new Far Out Phrases Die Set (LOVE THIS SET!) using vellum and black glitter cardstock, adhering them together. I then popped them on top of the medallion using foam strips.

To finish, I adhered the thread inside the card (you can add another panel of Jet Black cardstock on the inside of the front panel also to give it more strength, using the same Mix and Match Frames to create the window again. I added a few crystals on the back panel to finish. You can see from the above that it hangs when the recipient opens the card – it can be used as a decoration or even pull out the medallion and hang on the Christmas Tree or in a window as it’s double sided!

I love the retro look of the Good Vibes Builder Stencil Set – I had to go for the bent rainbow, and created a panel using ALLL the rainbow ink colors 🙂 I inked them up and then used the Far Out Phrases Die Set to cut a ‘Love’ window in the centre. I die cut several of the second layer from Jet Black cardstock and stacked them together.

I adhered the rainbow to a white notecard, then adhered the stacked black Love into the window. I coated it with Nuvo Crystal Glaze and added a few Satin Gold Sequins to finish.

My next two cards feature the Nostalgic Florals stamp, stencil and die sets. I stamped both of the images in Jet Black Ink from the stamp set, then used the coloring stencil to color them. I used Magenta, Razzleberry and Baby Pink ink for the flower petals, and Dusk and Ultramarine for the leaves, using Mini Ink Blending Tools to fade in the darker ink from the base. I also added a pop of Fresh Lemon and Honey Drizzle on the centres. I then die cut them out with the coordinating die.

For the background of my first card, I dry embossed the Zero Waste 3D Floral Cover Die using my embossing mat in my die cutting machine. I spritzed the panel with Pure White Spray and when dry, popped my floral over the top with foam tape. I added a few dots of black jet pen to the centres, and coated then with Crystal Glaze. I then trimmed off the excess.

I die cut out the ‘Love You’ sentiment using vellum and gold mirror cardstock using the new XOXO and More Die Set, adhering it down onto the florals. I adhered the panel to a white notecard. I finished with a few gold dots.

For the second card, I used the Circle Frame Mask Stencil, using the same colors as the florals were blended with, overlapping the colors and the edge of a white card panel. I also spritzed with Iridescent Spray before lifting up the stencil. I then adhered the second floral over the top of the stencil. I also added some depth to this flower with a coordinating Artist Marker.

I used the Birthday Wish Die Set for the main sentiment, die cutting it from white cardstock and Gold Mirror, adhered them over the top with foam tape. I finished with a few Satin White sequins and adhered to a white notecard.
