Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone has been able to make some good times out of the challenging days we’ve been facing recently. My family are currently midway through a staycation, and I’ve been having fun playing with some new goodies. Today I’m focusing on the new Marvelous Mermaids from Jane Davenport for Spellbinders. I’ve created three different looks with the same Happy Little Dolphin die, which my daughter was super excited about – her little friends love dolphins and we are going to make some mail drops!

My first card features lots of glitz and glitter. I die cut the Dolphin from pale blue glitter cardstock, and three of the waves die from some sea green glitter cardstock.

I looked through my stash of past Spellbinders card kits and found this fab patterned paper that looked like it would go perfectly with a sea scene, and mounted it onto a white card base. I then adhered two of the wave die cuts directly with liquid glue, and mounted the dolphin over the top with foam squares. The third wave I mounted with a double of teeeeeny slivers of foam tape hidden behind the wider parts of the waves so it gives the illusion of the dolphin jumping out of them. I added a dot of Black Nuvo Drops for his eye.

My sentiment is from the the Spellbinders Even More Sentiments die set. I created my own glitter paper with double sided tape and WOW! Starlight Sparkles Glitter then backed it with FSJ Whip Cream cardstock. As a finishing touch I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Dazzling Blue and some sequins in Sparkling Clear.

For my next card, I decided to create a background entirely out of the Mermaid Scale Tiles. I used the smallest one and die cut several colors of cardstock including FSJ Gold Mirror. I. then adhered them to a panel of white cardstock with liquid glue. They interlock just like a puzzle.

When finished adhering the die cuts, I trimmed off the excess, then die cut the panel with a Spellbinders Jane Davenport Nestabilities Essential Rectangles largest rectangle die AND the dotted rectangle. I used my Tool ‘n One to pop out all the little circles then adhered it with foam tape to a white notecard. I added some Little Things by Lucy’s Tinkerbell gemstones that coordinated perfectly!

I die cut my dolphin out of FSJ Watermelon Fusion cardstock and backed it with white cardstock to fill in the eyebrown and fin. I die cut the second fin from gold cardstock and popped it inside. To add dimension I also ink blended a little purple ink onto the dolphin and splattered it with clear glitter spray to get a mottled dolphin look. I popped him up on foam adhesive and then added the black Nuvo eye like before. My sentiment was created in the same way as before using gold mirror cardstock.

My final card is a little more CAS (Clean & Simple). I used the Jane Davenport Sea Kelp stampset and heat embossed it in WOW! Rich Pale Gold onto navy cardstock. I ink blended some black ink around the edges and then adhered the panel to a white note card.

My Happy Little Dolphin was this time die cut from Matte Silver cardstock (i’ve linked to FSJ’s Mirror Silver cardstock here but it is shinier) and adhered it to the kelp panel with foam squares. The sentiment was created as for the other cards, using the silver cardstock and backing it with white before mounting on foam tape.

And that finishes my three cards. Very similar layouts but by changing up the backgrounds and colors I think you’ll agree you get a very different look!
