Hi Everyone!

I am breaking from my normal card style today and going cute! We have a challenge going on at Time Out Challenges which challenges you to be Playful. It’s sponsored by Winnie & Walter and they were lovely enough to send me the super fun Peppermint Zone Cutaway coverplate. It’s perfect for adding a focal image, and I’ve created two cards today with it.

To create my first card, I die cut a panel of Tonic Studios Holo Waves cardstock (you guys know how much I LOVE this stuff) using the W&W Peppermint Zone coverplate. I then cut it again from Tonic Studios Berry Fizz Glitter cardstock. I also used a rectangle die to cut around the die cuts to create standalone cover diecuts, and saved the holo negative cuts.

I adhered the Berry Fizz to a panel of white cardstock covered in glue runner. I then pieced the holo pieces into the spaces to create an inlaid die cut.

I stamped the Panda image from the Flora & Fauna Panda set, and his balloon, and the sentiment in SSS Intense Black ink which is Copic friendly. I colored the ballons in violet copics, and the panda with some grey shades. I then trimmed all the pieces out. I also edged them with a black Memento marker.

I popped the sentiment and the Panda up on foam tape. I adhered a piece of silver twine behind the balloon before adhering it and then used liquid glue to stick it behind the panda’s hand. As a finishing touch I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze all over the balloon.

For my second card, I used the holo die cut, and popped it up using Darice foam strips to a white card base. I then stamped the unicorn on a bike and sentiment from the Flora & Fauna Unicorn Magic stamp set and colored them with the same Copic markers.

I trimmed them out, and as a finishing touch, I added some swirls of Nuvo Silver Rain Pure Sheen sequins which are also holographic.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some ideas! Be sure to head on over to the Time Out Challenges page to link up and take part!

This week we are joined by Nancy who has created two beautiful cards to inspire you – be sure to check out her beautiful blog.

  2. oh you are so good at using cover dies-I just don’t get on with them..think the word is patience! I like the way you used this for focal points-great idea. Love the purple one and adore you kept the unicorn white and such a pretty subtle one for the second x

  3. Both adorable – fun to see you going “cute” on us! I love the panda amidst all that sparkle and that you inlaid the pieces from the unicorn background into that sparkly background. That Peppermint Zone Cutaway must be mine now. That unicorn has stolen my heart I love the way you colored the background, love the placement of the sequins, and that sentiment is so perfect. LOVE IT!!.
