Hi Everyone!

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the gorgeous new Collection from Spellbinders from Yana Smakula – Yana’s Blooming Birthdays. I have two cards to share today that feature gorgeous hot foiled backgrounds using plates from this new collection.

My first features the Glimmering Peony plate. This is a beautiful large peony floral with buds. I repeat glimmered it onto an A2 panel of black cardstock, using two different shades of foil – the new Lavender Peta, paired with the stunning Fuchsia Floral.

Repeat foiling is really simple – simply foil your first image as you normally would and remove the plate. Shift the plate to the next place and slip the foil underneath (the hinge method is a little more tricky if the plate is hanging off the edge) then adhere with washi and foil again. I repeated this twice with the Fuchsia foil and twice with the Lavender.

Once I created the background, I used one of the Essential Duo Lines Glimmer Rectangles and foiled the ‘border’ directly over the peonies using Silver foil. Layering foil this way works really well.

My sentiment is from the Becca Feeken Heart Felt Sentiments set, foiled in Silver foil onto black cardstock and die cut out. I mounted it onto the background and adhered my panel to a white notecard to finish. A gorgeous shimmery one layer card!

For my second card, I am featuring the Blooming Floral Background from the Collection. This is a half background plate that you can foil once or twice on an A2 panel to create a background frame full of fun whimsical blooms. I foiled mine twice, using Rose Gold foil onto bright yellow cardstock.

I foiled the sentiment from the set in the same glimmer foil, onto a grapefruit cardstock and die cut it out, then mounted it with foam squares into the centre of the panel. I matted the panel onto the same grapefruit cardstock and then popped it onto a white notecard.

I decided to add a few extra embellishments around the sentiment within the frame using some earlier releases. I used the cute little bee, from Just Bee-Cause, and a couple of flowers from Glimmered Botanical, also foiled in Rose Gold onto coral and grapefruit cardstock and then die cut out.

I also added a few little tiny flowers and leaves die cut from the same cardstock (and a bit of green). I curved them using the ball tool in my Tool-in-One and stylus then adhered them to the panel. To finish, I added a few Fashion Silver embellishments including in the flower centres.

I just love this new collection – the flowers are fabulous and look so gorgeous in beautiful foils, don’t you think?

Have a wonderful day and stay safe.
