Yippee! It’s time for a new Paint-A-Flower from Altenew, and this month it is a Rose! Today is a blog hop to celebrate, and I have included the hops on the stop and details of PRIZES available for commenting, later in my post. The new stamp set is a beauty – there are two delicate images in the set, with several wonderful sentiments to choose from in fabulous fonts.

I’ve created two card projects with two different types of media. My first features the new Altenew Artists Watercolor pan set. I wanted to stamp the image and color it in with a stained glass type feel. I like the way the rose petals are slightly graphical and so wanted to play that up. I started by stamping the main bunch of roses three times on a panel of watercolor cardstock. I am using hot press, and Altenew Milk Chocolate Crisp Dye ink.

Once the ink was dry, I used my paint brush to mix up some oranges and reds in the pallette, and then colored in the sections of the roses, by painting a little water, dropping in the color, pulling it out and repeating for each section.

The stained glass look comes from using different shades and tones in unusual places – so instead of putting the dark color in the flower centres, put it wherever you feel!

As the other parts of the image were smaller, I simply colored them with a couple of different shades from the palette. I also added a lot of spatters for good measure, before trimming it down and mounting on a card base.

The sentiment was heat embossed in white on black cardstock and popped up on foam tape. I also scattered some co-ordinating sequins.

My second card is super simple and one layer. I stamped the smaller rose image in Milk Chocolate Crisp Dye in again, this time onto Altenew Spicy Yoghurt cardstock.

I colored in the rose petals using dark yellow, ochre and shades of orange petals. I use the lighter pencil to blend as a final layer, I used three shades of green for the leaves and filled in the berries with white gel pen.

I really wanted to keep this card simple and one layer, so I decided to simply heat emboss one of the sentiments from the set in Gold directly over the top of the image, before trimming and mounting to a white note card.
