Hi Everyone!

It’s time for Time Out Challenges 5th Birthday! Can you believe it? We have a wonderful Inspired by Words challenge this week and if you take part, you could win $50 GC to spend with our amazing friend and sponsor, Stamplorations.

My card today features a very simple watercolor technique. To create it, I first embossed the main image from the Altenew Fresh Freesia onto a panel of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock in WOW! White Pearl.

I then smushed some Distress Ink in Squeezed Lemonade and Picked Raspberry onto a craft mat, spritzed with water, and dragged the cardstock through the ink a few times, drying then repeating. When dry, I watered down some Wilted Violet Distress Ink and painted the Freesia. I let the ink be translucent enough to allow the smushed ink texture show through the purple.

For some sparkle, I outlined the embossing with a Sakura Stardust clear glitter marker. The sentiment (from the same set) was stamped directly onto the background in Catherine Pooler Midnight Black ink. As an embellishment I added some clear droplets in 4mm and 6mm. I then adhered the entire panel to a white card base.

This week we are joined by Guest Designer Kara and she’s created some brilliant cards to inspire you – be sure to go show her some love over on her blog.

Good luck!

  1. Jenny you make this look and sound so easy but I know it is not! If I tried it-it would just look a mess! I adore the soft and arty look of the background and then the slightly deeper colour on the flower-so we focus on that. Yet another stunning card. We are blessed to have you on the DT and I thank you for all the hard work you do and all the support you give me-you are an inspiration!

  2. Your watercolored freesia is gorgeous! I love the smooshed background and the pearl embossing with glittery detail! Such a beautiful card to celebrate TO’s fifth birthday! I’m so happy I had the opportunity to celebrate it with you!

  3. Absolutely stunning, Jenny! A wonderful water color technique and I love the soft colors you used here. Very feminine and pretty. xxx
