Hi everyone!

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S JULY! Seriously how did that happen. I swear about a week ago it was still April showers. Anyway, July IS here, and that means so is summer. AND that means its release day for Altenew’s Summer Sunshine Collection! Today’s post is part of the release blog hop, starting over at the Altenew Blog. If you were sent here by Mindy Eggen then you’re on the right track! I have a bunch of cards to share today that showcase the new release, and I hope there’s a little something for all of you!

My first card features the Mod Fruit Bowl Stamp Set. I LOVE the clean and modern style of this set, and wanted to keep my card clean and simple to tie in, using a crisp white panel of cardstock, and keeping it one layer.

I wanted a repeating pattern of lemons, using pale inks for the outer rind, so chose the pastel inks in Altenew’s release, inking up, stamping with my MISTI, rotating and aligning the shape then stamping with a new ink again. I used Orange Sorbet, Strawberry, Lemon Ice, and Mint Chip for the paler backgrounds. I used Fresh Lemon, Cotton Candy, Lime and Snapdragon for the centres, which I again aligned using my MISTI.

I added some black splatters with an old paint brush and Jet Black Ink Spray, then when dry, stamped the fun sentiment using Obsidian Pigment Ink. For a little touch, I added some clear drops here and there for a dew drop look.

For my next card, I’m featuring the Monsteras and Quotes stamp set and coordinating stencil. I stamped each of the leaves from the set in Jet Black Ink, then used the stencil to color them in. As I already had the ink colors on my desk, I decided to be a little different and use pinks for the leaves. I used Strawberry for the main part, and Cotton Candy for the inner part of the leaves. I then die cut them all out.

For my background, I used the new Mosaic Diamonds stamp. I inked it up with Strawberry, Orange Sorbet and Snapdragon, overlapping to blend. I then stamped on white cardstock and added a sentiment from the Monstera and Quotes set in the centre with Obsidian ink, and a few Jet Black splatters for good measure.

I arranged my die cut Monsteras around the quote with foam tape, trimming off excess and finishing with Satin Gold sequins to embellish.

My next card features the Captivating Blooms stamp set. I was in the mood for some coloring, so grabbed my Artist Markers after stamping the main image onto Copic X-Press It cardstock. I’m using the Island Garden marker set and my coloring is very blocky. You’ll see I’ve not really blended the layers, but kept them quite separate (inspired by Yana Smakula on a card from a few months ago). I added white gel pen here and there in the centres and to add highlights.

When my coloring was complete, I trimmed down the image to fit an A2 card with a shaped edge. I then mounted it with foam tape over a pale pink card panel dry embossed with the Flower Bed 3D Embossing Folder.

The sentiment was stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink and mounted on top, finishing with a few sequins from my stash that paired perfectly with the flower petals.

My final card today features the Tropical Garden hot foil plate and stamp set. I hot foiled the florals using Aura iridescent gold hot foil (by Spellbinders) and added the stamped centres over the top. The foil resists the ink so this method works perfectly. I used those same pale inks again in Strawberry, Orange Sorbet, Lemon Ice and Mint Chip. I then die cut them out with the coordinating dies.

For the background I once again used the Flower Bed embossing folder and I also dry embossed a panel inked up with Orange Sorbet and Strawberry Inks that I had die cut with a Stitched Scalloped Circle die from a recent release. I was then able to align the scalloped circle over the background perfectly, and not lose the pattern of the embossing folder.

I arranged the florals over my scalloped circle with foam tape, and added a sentiment stamped in Enchanted Gold onto cardstock inked with the Strawberry ink. I scattered a few Satin Gold sequins to finish.
