Hi Everyone! Summer is here, it’s hot and so are the new Spellbinders club kits! I have two cards to share today that feature the Large Die of the Month, Small Die of the month and Embossing Folder of the Month. The dies have a summery vibe and so I’ve paired them here as a set!

My first card features the Large Die ‘Food Truck’ for July. This is a cool little van that you can spruce up with different colors and it even comes with a couple of choices for a food topper – either a little taco, or as I’ve used here, an ice cream!

I chose my cardstock colors first, then started die cutting. The food truck is quite a complex die on first look, but it’s quite straight forward to cut if you take it slow and use a reference photo like this one. I cut out the windows and backed them with vellum for a ‘glass’ look. The colors I chose for my truck were Beeswax, Pink Sand and Peridot, with touches of Brushed Silver. I also used a little black on the wheels and kraft on the cone.

My background was dry embossed with the Embossing Folder of the Month ‘Geometric Stripes’. I then adhered the food truck with foam squares making sure the awning was scored and folded – slipping it into the slit above the window. I secured it with double sided tape.

For my sentiment, I used an older Clear Stamp Set – Circle of Sunshine which I heat embossed in white onto black cardstock. I also added a few bits of glaze on the tires and the ice-cream, sprinkling some clear glitter onto the ice-cream before it dried to add some ‘sugar’.

For my second card I featured the Small Die Club Kit, ‘Day At The Beach’. This is such a cool design with the sentiment featured on the brim of the hat of a person who can be seated on a beach rug – or several people! I chose to use the same colors as featured in my food truck card, using last month’s Radiant Burst embossing folder as the backdrop. I only partially embossed it to look like a sun set!

It’s fun to choose the color combos for the flip flops, bag, towel, hat and swimsuit. I nearly went for patterned paper on the swimsuit but ultimately opted for two-colors, just die cutting it twice and then snipping one in half and overlaying it on the other.

One again, I finished with a sentiment from the Circle of Sunshine stamp set heat embossed in white on pink cardstock. On both cards I scattered some coordinating sequins from my stash.

Hope these cards give you some summer vibes!
