Hi Everyone!
I’m joining you today for a pair of cards that feature the new Layered Fleur Bouquet Slimlines Collection by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders. This collection is made up of gorgeously intricate border / frame dies, paired with stunning floral layering dies to create both slimline and standard size cards.
For my first card, I’m featuring the Layered Daisies set. Each main flower, and the buds, are made up of two layers. There are also flower centres, leaves and stems to complete the bouquet. I die cut each piece from white cardstock and then ink blended the colors onto the pieces.
I used purple all over all of the petals, then blended it more firmly towards the base of the petals. I also added some very dark purple just at the edges for contrast. For the leaves and and stems, I used green, and then blended a little purple up from the base of the leaves and stems to give a purply brown. I adhered all the pieces together, including adding the centres in just white into the middle of the main blooms. I actually adhered these blooms together with thin foam squares for a little dimension.
For my background, I used a panel of Navy cardstock, dry embossed with this month’s April 2022 Embossing Folder Club Kit (Radiant Burst). I added a few gold splatters, and then arranged my daisies in the centre using foam tape and glue, trimming off the excess. The fun texture on my flower centres was created by adding a circle of glue round the daisy centre, and then sprinkling lots of Prills in a shiny brown lustre color onto the glue and leaving it to dry. I added a couple of extra dots of glue here and there when it had dried where there was a little that needed filling in.
The sentiment is from the Love You More sentiment set, die cut 3 times in white cardstock and once in Gold Mirror, adhering them together and adding to to the top. I finished with a few Fashion Gold Embellishments.
For my second card, I used the Layered Lilies set, die cutting all of the pieces from white cardstock as before. I used green-blue ink blending on the leaves and stems, orange for the flower stamens and a light flicking of purple in the centre of the lilly. I adhered the pieces together to create the main blooms.
For my card base I used the Half Slimline Bracket which I die cut using the outline and curlicue frame from gold mirror, the solid from navy, and adhered them together. I created two of these, then adhered them both to a white card base to create a slimline card.
I then arranged the stems and the florals onto the card, using foam squares, then tucked in the leaves here and there to create my lily vine up and down the card. I created the ‘I pick you’ sentiment in the same way as the Love You More set (this comes with the Half Slimline Bracket) and adhered it over the top. I once more finished with a few Fashion Gold Embellishments here and there.
Two different looks with similar techniques – I love how realistic these layered florals are, they really can give a great look with ink blending.
