Hi Everyone!! It’s time for the latest Craft-A-Flower release from Altenew and it’s the Sweet Violet!
I’m excited to share my project today, as I paired it with an older sentiment set and it took on a whole modern look. Amazing what changing up the sentiment font can do! Anyway, if you landed here from LauraJane’s blog, you’re on the right track for today’s blog hop + giveaway! If not, I’d recommend starting over at the Altenew blog and I’ll see you in a jiffy!
I started off by die cutting all of my flowers and leaves from white Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock. I then colored all of the pieces using alcohol markers. Normally, I use inks or colored cardstock, but wanted to change it up a little bit this time! I used the Rock Garden (Set D) for all of the coloring – I just love the dusky pinks and blue greens combo. I adhered all the pieces together then set aside to work on my background.
My background is a panel of Solar White, overlaid with the Tulle Stencil and spritzed with Metallic Shimmer Ink Sprays in Frosty Pink and Soft Lilac, letting them blend and dry on the cardstock. I then arranged my dies onto the panel and adhered them.
When dry, I stamped the panel with this awesome block sentiment from the Crafty Life stamp set, directly onto the card panel with Obsidian pigment ink. Not a font I would normally have thought of, but it fit perfectly (I had adhered my die cuts already – oops) and I chanced it. I also shifted the stamp a couple of milimeters, and restamped without inking again to get a faint shadow look! I then finished with a few purple crystals.
