Hi everyone! The days are getting shorter, it’s darker earlier, and there’s a chill in the air here in New York. So what better time to inject some brightness than with the latest Build-A-Flower from Altenew. This month’s release is the Laelia! Today’s post is part of a blog hop celebrating the new BAF, and you should have landed here from Joy’s blog. If not, you can pop on over to Altenew’s stop where they are kicking off things. Stay tuned for today’s giveaway!

For my card today, I was inspired to use similar colors to those in the fold out product card. The inspiration in the inserts is always amazing, especially when it comes to ideas for color combos. My main bloom was stamped using (from light to dark) Frosty Pink, Pink Diamond, Baby Pink, Pinkalicious and Rubellite inks. The leaves are Marshland and Sea Forest, and the the flower centre is Mango Smoothie. I actually stamped all of the outline first with embossing ink and heat embossed in Antique Gold. Doesn’t it give such a soft and pretty look?

One I die cut out the Laeila, I decided i didn’t want to trim it down anywhere. I decided to create a smaller slimline card, using the Nesting Slim Rectangles. Using the Mango Smoothie ink, I stamped the solid leaf image several times over a panel of white cardstock die cut with the slimline nesting die. I splattered it with some Frost Pink Shimmer Spray.

When dry, I stamped the ‘you are a treasure’ sentiment in Obsidian ink directly to the panel, and adhered to a slightly larger white mat with foam tape. I matted this on Warm Sunshine cardstock and then adhered to a slimline notecard. The Laeila was popped up on foam tape, and I let it hang off the edges. I finished with a few pearls in coordinating colors.

  1. The gold embossing does give the flower a soft look. Also, the colors used look great together. I need to remember to mix the light shades from the different pink sets.
