Hi Everyone! The new stamp of the month from Fun Stampers Journey / Spellbinders for April is a super pretty one, full of simple floral images you can use many ways to create your cards. I have two projects to share today using watercolor, but stamping the images two very different ways.

For both projects, I used hot press watercolor cardstock. It’s super smooth which makes it great for stamping. On my first panel, I heat embossed the ‘Beautiful’ sentiment into the centre using WOW! embossing ink and Metallic Platinum embossing powder.

I then stamped the florals from the set around the word using a pale brown ink, keeping them loosely in the shape of a wreath. I used my Altenew pan watercolors to paint the images, using a size 00 brush as these are super fine florals. I started with a light wash of color on each petal or leaf, let it dry, then went back in and added deeper colors in the shadows to add contrast. I also colored in the letters, creating a little bit of an ombre look.

You can see in the close up above I added some splatters, and a little bit of Clear Wink of Stella for shimmer on the letters. For embellishment I added some clear Nuvo Drops and then backed it onto a card base.

For my next card, I heat embossed the frame from the stamp set in WOW! Metallic Platinum. I then masked off the edges using Post-It notes, and stamped the images in the same brown ink. I removed the Post-Its and watercolored the images again, this time going with a yellow-peach-coral color scheme.

The sentiment is from the Spellbinders Even More Sentiments die set from the April Die of the Month add-ons . I’ll have two more cards later in the week that focus just on that add-on set. I die cut out the sentiment (using the coordinating frame) from gold mirror cardstock, then using very skinny strips of foam tape, popped it up into the centre of the panel then backed it onto a card base.

And that finishes my two. cards! I think you’ll agree two pretty different looks using very similar materials – I’d love to see what you come up with!
