Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card created with the September Large Die kit club from Spellbinders. It’s a set that includes a cute little bird, florals, musical notes, layering sentiments, balloons, and I tried to cram as much of it as I could in my little scene today because it all works together just brilliantly.

I almost always do all my die cutting first, and so I rifled through my scrap draw and grabbed lots of pretty pinks, pale blues, coral and a pretty purple glitter DIY cardstock I made a while ago from WOW! glitter and double sided adhesive, which I thought would pair well with the blue to create the bird’s body. I did all my die cutting and glued together the flowers and bird first, then set aside. The balloons are in the set and come with plates that fit inside the circular dies and dry emboss the texture onto the balloon. You’ll see I also added a little ink blending to add a little more dimension.

I also die cut several of the musical notes, and the sentiment from vellum and cardstock adhered together.

Before putting my card together, I dry embossed a panel of white cardstock with the Sun Rays embossing folder (Spellbinders no longer has the version I used here, but I have linked something very similar). I adhered the panel, trimmed to 4″ x 5.25″ with fun foam to a white note card, then adhered my bird with foam squares.

For the balloons, I wanted to add a little detail using thread instead of die cut strings. I love to add little touches like this for interest and make the card stand out. I adhered threads to the back of each balloon with foam tape then added a blob of glue behind the birds beak and popped the balloon down, trimming the string. I repeated for the other two balloons and it now looks like the little birdie is clutching the balloons in his mouth.

You’ll see in the photo, I also added another little detail – shine! I used Glossy Accents to add beak and eye shine and a little dimension. I did this at the end after arranging all of the florals onto the balloons and down into the corner of the card. I popped on the sentiment and scattered a few music notes with small pieces of foam tape.

For the final bit of shine, I added a few crystals here and there including in the flower centres to finish!
