Hi everyone! I hope you all kicked off your week well! I’ve finally managed kick a cold I’ve had for over two weeks and feeling better finally. When you’re under the weather, do you like to craft to take your mind off it? Or are you a sofa/bed and TV kinda person? For colds, I like to craft, (with a hot cup of tea). Right in the middle of this one, goodies from Gina K Design’s new release landed in my mailbox to play with! Great way to feel better!
My card today features the Poppy Garden stamp set and coordinating dies, designed by Hannah Drapinski. I was torn between alcohol marker and watercoloring but as I wanted to keep the poppies vivid red, I thought they would look fab against a dark background so decided to go with alcohol markers against a dark navy background.
I colored the florals with four shades of red marker, light to dark and back to light, and three shades of green for the leaves, using feathering to add depth. I am using Xpress It cardstock and permanent black alcohol marker safe ink. I then die cut the image out and used a navy Copic marker to color in the white border. I also die cut the main image one more time from 110lb cardstock and adhered them together for sturdiness.
My background is a panel of navy cardstock, very similar to the Copic color. I spritzed it with Metallic Gold Antique spray (spritzed rather than flicked) and adhered it to a white notecard leaving a tiny thin white border, then mounted the poppies with foam tape onto the panel when dry. I heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment in Metallic Rich Pale Gold (WOW!) onto white cardstock and trimmed it. out, mounting over the top. If you look closely you’ll see I also added a few gold gel pen touches in the centers to tie in!
Be sure to head on over to Gina K’s store and see the amazing new release – wait til you see. it!!! You’re gonna love it!
