Good morning everyone! I hope your week has been going well – not long until the weekend hurray!! I’ve been enjoying the peeks this week at the new May 2021 Waffle Flower release and today’s the day it goes live! I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the new products to showcase them for release day.

My first two cards are both mini slimline cards. I used the largest die in the new Mini Slimline Layers Die set (14 nesting dies) which measures 3-1/2″w x 6″h to make perfect mini slimline cards! I die cut two panels of white cardstock.

For the first panel, I grabbed the new Butterflies Background stencil and ink blended some pretty inks from the bottom, fading out towards the top. I used (from bottom to top) a purple, an orange, and a pink, overlapping as I went. I then used the Flying Butterflies die and die cut some white glitter cardstock. This die cuts out an outline and the butterflies themselves. I used the negative of the cardstock as a guide over my ink blended stencil panel and popped each of the die cut butterflies in place with a thick foam square. I then pulled away the negative to reveal those butterflies all perfectly aligned!

My sentiment is from the new Oversized Grace and Kindness. I die cut the inner ‘grace’ die from glossy black cardstock, the layered it over a couple more die cuts from thick white cardstock, then adhered it to the butterflies panel. The sentiment is from the coordinating stampset heat embossed in white and trimmed out (you can also trim out with the smallest slimline die which is a perfect label strip which I realised after photographing my cards!). I added iridescent jewels to finish and mounted on a notecard (6 x 7 scored at 3.5″)

I did a similar approach for my second panel. I splattered a little black ink mixed with water on the background first. I then ink blended a panel of cardstock with the same ink colors I used on my first card, then die cut it with the Flying Butterflies die.

I adhered the outline I had left over from my glitter cardstock die cut directly onto the panel, then mounted the ink blended butterflies in the outlines using thick foam tape again.

For my sentiment this time, I did the same as before, this time using the inner Kindness die, and angled it so that it fit across the card without hanging off the edges, then popped on a sub-sentiment from the coordinating set. A few jewels finished this card set!

My final card features the Single Butterfly stencil. This has an outline of a butterfly which you can stencil solid, or you can insert the detailed layer too to create a more detailed butterfly. I. did both. I ink blended the solid butterfly onto some white cardstock using those same ink colors again. I then added the detail layer over the top with darker purple ink. I then decided to trim it out.

For my card layout, I die cut a smaller Mini Slimline die from black cardstock and mounted it to the left of a white notecard. I then popped up fussy cut butterfly , trimming the edge of one wing to align to the left edge of the black die cut. I added a few Rose Gold shimmer spray splatters, and adhered a few leftover ink blended butterflies from the outline of the Flying Butterflies die cut (I simply fussy cut them out of the overall die cut).

My sentiment is the Oversized Hugs die from an earlier Waffle Flower release, die cut from iridescent vellum and mounted with clear foam tape. (And of course I added a few jewels again!)

Thank you to Waffle Flower for having me guest design for this release – don’t you just love those butterflies!? Enjoy!
