Hello Everyone!

It has been super cold here in New York the past couple of days, but absolutely beautiful weather so I couldn’t resist taking the kids out for a couple laps running around the garden to burn off some excess energy. Always nice to come back into the warm house and make cards!

Today I am sharing two cards that I created using the January Spellbinders Kit Clubs – Small Die of the Month and Glimmer of the Month. These also coordinate beautifully with the January Large Die of the Month which I featured recently on my blog.

For me, when it comes to intricate dies that can form an entire card front, it becomes all about the color combo. The Small Die of the Month is called ‘Lovely Card Creator’ and it features a border die, a central flowers and leaves panel that fits perfectly inside it, and then a heart pattern die cut and outline die. They all combine to create a complete card front. I decided that my color combo was going to be white, grapefruit and peacock, something a little different.

My white cardstock is letterpress cotton cardstock, which I trimmed to 4″ x 5.5″ and then dry embossed with the outerdie using the tan embossing mat and embossing plate. I then die cut the central die panel from Peacock cardstock (by C9) and adhered it directly to the dry embossed panel with liquid glue. Finally, I die cut the heart including the outline from Grapefruit cardstock (also by C9). I used the heart outline die to cut out a heart panel of silver sparkle cardstock (MFT) which I adhered to the back of the grapefruit heart. I then mounted it inside the peacock die cut with foam tape.

I mounted the entire panel with foam tape onto a grapefruit notecard. For the sentiment, I used the Glimmer plate from the January Glimmer of the Month, foiled onto a strip of peacock with matte silver Glimmer foil using my Glimmer Hot Foil System. As a finishing touch I added a few Meadow embellishments, that coordinated with the Grapefruit heart and background.

My next card features the January Glimmer of the Month which is called ‘Calligraphy Hearts’. It features three hot foil plates that you can glimmer, with coordinating die, as well as sentiment plates and a banner die. The red foil is a nice touch so I decided to use it to glimmer one of the hearts onto white cotton letterpress cardstock. It looks gorgeous in real life! I also used the same foil to glimmer one of the sentiments and trimmed them both out with the coordinating dies.

To coordinate with the red foil, I decided to use the small die of the month again, and this time die cut the centre die from Cranberry cardstock (C9).

My card base is from the Spellbinders The Card Shoppe and is an A2 Cream Card Base. I used a coordinating A2 panel of cream cardstock and die cut it with the Essentials Nestabilities Labels. I then sandwiched some of the same Cranberry cardstock between the card base and the die cut panel so that the red peeped through.

I then adhered the die cut leaf panel to the front with liquid glue, and popped the hot foiled sentiment and heart up with foam squares. As a finishing touch, I added a few Fashion Gold embellishments.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for using these kits this month! Stay tuned until next week when we have our inspiration blog hop featuring all of the kits!
