Hi Everyone!

Today I’m sharing a project I created for the Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP). The class I created this for is the All About Layering class, and I chose the Layered Lily to focus on.

This class really helped me to line up some of the more complicated layering stamps in Altenew’s catalogue – I own a lot of them but often pick something quicker to stamp or to watercolor rather than using layering stamps. Well, I’m a convert! I think I want to layer all the things now! The effects you can achieve are amazing.

The Layered Lily stamp is a more simple one but has so much depth with its four layers. I stamped each a few times just to get practicing and I found that it was easier to stamp the third layer first to help me line up my layers! I used shades of purple inks for the flowers (and grey for the fourth layer) and shades of deep blue teal for the leaves as I love this combo together.

My final layer (the stems in the centre) I actually stamped with Altenew Enchanted Gold ink and heat embossed it in clear, before die-cutting all of the pieces out.

Because I can’t resist a bit of watercolor, I pulled out a panel of cold press, and used my Altenew pan watercolors in similar shades of blue and purple to create a multi-layered wash. I splattered it with grey ink and the Enchanted Gold ink mixed with some water to tie in with the stems.

When dry, I die cut it with the Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas die to give some fun texture, before popping up all the flowers. I adhered the panel to a white card base with purple fun foam (because LAYERS!)

For my sentiment I used the ‘hugs’ die from Altenew Scipt Words die cut from pale matte gold cardstock to tie in with the splatters and stems. The sub sentiment is from Altenew Peony Spray stamped in embossing ink and heat embossed in white on gray cardstock, and die cut with a sentiment strip.

As a finishing touch, I added a few Sparkling Clear sequins! I am so glad this class inspired me to pull out some of my older Altenew sets, I can’t believe I’ve never used!

Hope you like it!
