Hi everyone!

It’s time for another Timeout Challenge is which is photo inspired. I love using photos to inspire card creation – Pinterest is a big resource for me – I typically do not look at photos of cards but rather artwork or fashion or still life or even pamphlets.  It often gets my mojo working again!

For my card today, I wanted to mirror the creams and reds in the inspiration photo, as well as include some cake and hearts!    I also wanted to break out my Copics as the The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge is also in flight!

To create my card, I first created my card base. I used Simon Says Stamp Cream cardstock, cut to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and dry embossed it with the We Are Memory Keepers Next Level 3D embossing folder.  I then used a blender to lightly brush some Hero Arts Pale Tomato ink from bottom left to upper right and lightly catch the hearts to give them a little color.  I then backed it onto a Neenah Solar White 110lb card base.

I then took some Copic X-Press It blending card, and stamped the cake (or macaroons?) image from the Altenew Celebrations stamp set in Catherine Pooler Midnight black ink (which is copic friendly) and colored it with my Copics.  I’ve linked the colors in the supplies that I used, but was really pleased how this turned out as I’m a newbie to Copic coloring and cream was tough!  I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the ribbon and a dot of Glossy Accents to the heart. I then die cut out the image with the co-ordinating dies and popped it on foam tape to the card panel.

I used a gorgeous sentiment stampset from our wonderful sponsor (and DT member!) Stamplorations  – isn’t it perfect for the image?!  I heat embossed it in white on black cardstock, trimmed it out and added it with foam tape.  For a finishing touch I added some clear sequins (I had them laying on my desk and I figured I’d use them rather than tidy them up into the bin – lol!)

Be sure to head on over to Timeout Challenges to link up and be in with a chance to win $25 to spend with Stamplorations.  This week we also have wonderful Guest Designer and my good friend Coni – she creates beautiful cards so be sure to check out her blog – her cards for the guest spot are no different – be sure to head on over and give her some love <3

Until tomorrow!

  1. Love that embossed background and how you added the colour, such a great idea. And new to copics…..no one would ever know, you look like an expert, as always I find this requires too much patience for me!! Placing the sentient on black works as a great contrast to the pretty base, looks fabulous my friend x

  2. This is wonderful, Jenny. I particularly love the way you added a little color to the embossed hearts. What a wonderful idea. Great job with the Copics. It does take some getting used to. I took 2 certification classes in North Jersey that were very helpful. They hold them occasionally in the Rutherford area. anyway, I do love this card. Hugs, S.
