Hi Everyone!

It’s an exciting time as the new Catherine Pooler Designs release is just around the corner (February 13th).  It’s called Welcome Home, and features lots of amazing dies (including cover dies woot woot!), scene images to color, simply brilliant sentiments and my favourite of the bunch – the Rondi’s Window background stamp.  There is a blog hop to celebrate today (start out over on Catherine’s blog) and a video hop tomorrow (check back tomorrow for my vid here and on YouTube) with lots of prizes to be won!

I’m not officially part of the blog hop today but I wanted to jump in and share this card I created with the Rondi’s Window stamp because it really was a labor of love.  This image is just so beautiful, you can use it for many techniques (I feature it on another card tomorrow), but for this card, I went crazy and decided to pencil color it.

Now, let me first start by saying, I’m not a pencil colorer typically.  I like how they look but they take a long time for a small image and I don’t typically have enough time. So why oh why did I do this – an entire background – in pencil. It called to me.  It’s all I can think of.  I just had to.  Let me secondly say, it took me close to all day. I multi-tasked a little, taking breaks when I got hand cramps, but I was determined to finish it.

I stamped with a fadeout ink, and left the stamp in my MISTI (this is important).  I then colored it in Faber Castell Polychromos, and blended them into each other. I didn’t use any blending solution, just lots of layers.  When it was finished, I added it back into my MISTI and re-stamped in embossing ink, and heat embossed in WOW! Platinum super fine embossing powder (holding my breath the entire time in case I was slightly off in my stamping!!).  I went back too and added some tiny accents with a white gel pen, just to add some more interest on the design.

As a finishing touch, I stamped a sentiment from the new Awesome & Wonderful stamp set in embossing ink and heat embossed in white on Midnight cardstock.  I also added a couple of clear sequins from the Aspen mix to finish and adhered the entire panel to a white notecard.

This is probably my most favorite (and certainly most time consuming) card I’ve ever made.  I don’t often praise my own cards but I was really proud of this – I hope you like it too!  Stay tuned tomorrow for more release fun!

  1. Amazing card. Not only is the stamp a must have, but your color choices and technique resulted in a truly beautiful card. I would have it hanging in my craft room for inspiration. Thank you for sharing your labor of love.
