Hi Everyone!

Time Out Challenge is back with a gorgeous photo inspiration challenge this week, and we are sponsored by Altenew, who are kindly giving the winner of our challenge $20 to spend with them!

I just had to break out my Altenew stash for this challenge (so many never inked up, gorgeous stamps!) to create my card.  I’m using Remember This stampset and dies for the main image, plus the new Sewn With Love for the sentiment.  I was inspired by the grey and yellow colors in the photo and the white vase which inspired the embossing paste background.

I started by trimming a panel of 110lb Neenah Solar White down to 4″ x 5.25″.  I used white embossing paste and the Diamond Tim Holtz stencil to create the background, applying with a palette knife and swiping from the bottom left to top right, leaving some rough edges, rather than covering the entire stencil/background.  I then set aside to dry.

I used my MISTI to stamp the layered floral images in three colors of yellow, light to dark – Simon Says Stamp Lemon Chiffon, Lemon Zing and Sunshine.   The leaves were stamped in two or three layers of grey, in Slate, Stone and Fog ink. I made some outlines darker and some lighter for a bit of dimension.  I added white gel pen to the largest flower center, and then die cut all of the images with the co-ordinating dies.

When the white panel was dry I adhered it with fun foam to a Simon Says Stamp Lemon Chiffon card base to co-ordinate with the ink, and arranged the stamped images, adhering with liquid glue and foam tape.  (I trimmed off any that were overhanging).  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Superfine white embossing powder onto silver cardstock by Neenah. I trimmed it out and adhered with foam tape.   As a finishing touch I scattered some Nuvo glitter drops in Yellow Bird and Nuvo jewel drops in Grey Mist.

I really love this pop of yellow – I’ve not done a yellow card since last Spring – and since we’ve had 5 snow storms in the past month here in NY, I could realllly use some Spring about now – how about you!

Be sure to take part with us over at the Time Out page.  This week we are also joined by Guest Designer Sarah who has created a beautiful card for your viewing pleasure 🙂  Here’s the inspiration photo.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  1. So much stunning detail here! I love your use of embossing paste ( I see it around a lo now, I should dig mine out of the drawer!) and I love the soft color palette you used -sometimes it’s fun with a card with no black at all and your card is the perfect example of this! xxx

  2. Gorgeous background texture that mimics the pattern on the vase beautifully, Jenny … the soft floral spray is just fabulous against it … so delicate and subtle! Hugs, Anita 🙂

  3. Jenny, this is absolutely gorgeous. (More snow tonight, just sayin’). I love the colors, your arrangement of those wonderful flowers, that wonderful stencilled background and the way you did the sentiment. Wonderful take on the challenge! Fabulous card!!! .
