Hi Folks,

I can’t stop creating with the Catherine Pooler Designs Grateful Heart stampset from the recent release.  The images and sentiments are just so pretty!  I wanted to share two of the cards I recently made that feature both of the largest sentiments from the set, as well as the main flower images.

Card 1

This card actually uses a couple of the leftover copic colored images I made when I created the cards for the recent blog hop (find that post here).  I dry embossed the new Square Dance Stencil into a panel of white cardstock trimmed to 4 x 5.25″ using my diecutting machine (I have a Spellbinders Platinum 6).  To emboss a stencil, you need a tan mat and for the Platinum, you need to use one plate and it should be the embossing plate (not the cutting plate).  You can check your machine instructions for other embossing sandwiches.  I then gently blended Aquatini and Mint to Be Catherine Pooler inks over the top, starting in the centre and fading out towards the edges.  This picks up the outline of the embossed image.   I adhered the panel to a 110lb white cardbase with fun foam.

I stamped the biggest sentiment from Grateful Heart onto Catherine Pooler’s new vellum (it’s awesome this stuff – great quality) in Versamark ink and heat embossed with WOW! Cloud 9 Embossing Glitter. I then die cut it out using a Postage Stamp die from Catherine’s recent Stamp of Approval release.  I adhered it to the panel using liquid glue hidden behind the letters of the sentiment.  I then adhered my copic colored die cuts with liquid glue. I really like how the vellum allows the stenciled image to show through but makes it more subtle.

Card 2

For this card, I stamped the images from Grateful Heart onto cold press watercolor paper using Distress Ink in Antique Linen (for no-line watercoloring).  I then used my Daniel Smith paints (colors linked below in the Supplies List) to color the image.  I used two different colors for both the leaves and the florals, using the wet on wet technique.  Paint clean clear water over the area first, then drop in the paint.  I used to different colors and let them blend together in the middle.   I then stamped the Grateful Heart sentiment in the centre using Midnight Catherine Pooler ink.

On a white 110lb card base, I added a strip of the striped Black Tie Gala patterned paper and a strip of white glitter cardstock.  I then adhered my dried watercolor panel over the top with foam tape. As a finishing touch, I added clear Wink of Stella all over the florals.

I hope this gave you some more inspiration – all these florals are making me think about Spring!  (Where is it !?!) 🙂
