Hi Everyone!

It’s an exciting day today because the new Stamp of Approval Celebrate Friends Collection is released!  I hope you all have been enjoying the three days of hopping and sneaks and peaks – because today is the day!

If you’re not familiar with Stamp of Approval, you’ll find out a lot about it by checking the info on Catherine’s blog. In a nutshell, it is a quarterly themed collection of stamping products that all co-ordinate and can be used alone or together along with some cardstock or other embellishments  to create fantastic cards.  It often sells out like lightning and there is a waitlist ahead of time to place an order just in case it does sell out on release day.  This release is extra special as there is a choice of box – a Tea theme (Cuppa Tea stamp set and Bordering Sweet dies) and a Coffee theme (Perfect Blend stamp set and Morning Joe dies).  I’m a coffee gal!!

To celebrate release day, I have two more cards for you that I created with the collection.  They use the I Eat Cake stamp set (and dies, which are available as an add-on), the Scattered Circles stencil, and the Morning Joe border die.

Card 1

This card uses the Morning Joe border die alone, with custom colored cardstock (using Catherine Pooler inks).  You’ll see that you can actually overlap the die cuts and the underlying color peeks through the slits in the die cut.  I noticed this and decided to create a rainbow card using just this die!

I swiped CP ink pads in the following colors across Catherine Pooler Premium White cardstock: Something Borrowed, Grass Skirt, Tiara, Flirty Fuchsia, Tutti Fruiti, Be Mine (from January’s Stamp of Approval) and Rockin’ Red.  I then used the border die to die cut the border out from each color, as well as some gold mirror cardstock.

I trimmed out each border leaving approx 3/4″ excess above the detail of the border, and adhered each border die down on a panel of white cardstock, using a thin strip of double sided tape along the back of the die, starting at the top of the panel. For each subsequent diecut, I inserted it under the previous color, so that the new color peeped through. You could do more colors and fill up the entire panel, but I left approx. a third of the panel ‘naked’ and stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment (from the I Eat Cake stamp set) in Midnight ink.  I trimmed off the excess using a trimmer and adhered the panel to a white card base.

Card 2

I trimmed a panel of Catherine Pooler white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and taped the Scattered Circles stencil over the top.  I then created some custom embossing paste with Flirty Fuchsia ink by smushing it onto a craft mat and mixing it up with Dreamweaver white embossing paste.  I didn’t full mix it in so that I got an almost marbled look.  I then smoothed this over the stencil, lifted off and set aside to dry.   On a scored white card base, I inked the edges with Flirty Fuchsia.   When the stencilled panel was dry I adhered it to the card base with fun foam.

I die cut out the cake stand from white cardstock using the I Eat Cake co-ordinating die add ons. I then placed the die cut back into the panel and placed it in my MISTI.  I lined up the cake stand stamp over the die-cut and then stamped it in Versamark ink and heat embossed in WOW! Metallic Gold Sparkle embossing glitter.  I found that doing it this way round makes sure you can line up the centre of the stand correctly for a die cut image.  I popped the stand up on foam tape onto my stencilled panel.

The cake stamps in the I Eat Cake set are so fun to play with.  There are so many options for combinations of tops, decorations and wrappers.  I stuck to just the muffins, stamped using Sweet Sixteen, Mint To Be, It’s a Girl and decorations in Polished.  I also used gold gel pen to add some additional gold accents on the cupcake wrappers to tie in with the cake stand. I die cut them all out with the co-ordinating dies and arranged them on the stand, adhered with foam tape and liquid adhesive.  I also added Sugar Stickles and Glossy Accents to mimic real cupcake icing and sugar – NOM!!

The sentiment from the set was stamped and trimmed out with a banner flag, I also inked some Flirty Fuchsia around the edges and popped up on foam tape.

And that’s it – what a fabulous release, makes me hungry every time I start creating with this box.  Enjoy!
