Hi everyone! I’m excited to be joining Michelle Lupton’s Challenge Me a Christmas Card again – love Michelle’s clean and simple style!! So when I was Instagram scrolling her account looking for inspiration, I came across an autumnal card that was stenciled but with an open circle in the centre – one layer and so simple to adjust to a Chrimbo vibe! You can check out her card here.
I always forget about masking when stenciling so this inspired me to look through my stencil stash – I grabbed for the Altenew Leaves and Berries stencil and masked off a circle first on a panel of white cardstock. I then overlaid the stencil and secured with masking tape.
Michelle’s card had more autumnal ink colors – I grabbed for reds and greens for that christmassy feel – using Parrot, Olive, Crimson and Coral Bliss Crisp Dye Inks. I used a large blending tool and randomly blended all four inks over the top of my stencil, making sure to get good coverage. I then lifted off the stencil and the masked circle and voila!! So simple, and a perfect area for a sentiment is left behind!
I decided to add a layered Christmas die cut sentiment, cut from white cardstock and Gold Mirror cardstock – it’s Altenew’s Christmas Season die, which I adhered into the lower third. I stamped the ‘Merry’ from Altenew’s Happy Holidays stamp set in Antique Gold Pigment Ink over the top and finished with a few brushed gold gems here and there. Still kind of one layer but with a bit of christmas bling!
Thank you so much for having me again this year Michelle – I’m off to do my Xmas shopping now (I’m SO LATE – this post always reminds me!)
