IT’S TIME!! Altenew is releasing a brand new product – WOOT WOOT! It’s Artists’ Gouache, a gorgeous set of creamy paints that can be used completely on their own, or as a complement to Altenew’s watercolors. We are celebrating with a blog hop today, hopefully you were sent my way from the always amazing Agnieszka Małyszek! Stay tuned for details on prizes to be won!

The gouache set has 12 gorgeous pretty colors, and they can be used with a little water to make a buttery or cream consistency, perfect for opaque painting, even on dark cardstock (and amazing for layering LIGHTER colors OVER darker colors – the big difference between gouache and watercolor). You can also used them with more water to create a more watercolor type consistency, however when it dries, it can be a little streakier at this consistency than watercolor. You can even change the color by mixing with watercolor!

I’m pretty new to gouache so I’m still learning, and my card project today is not quite what I was going for – however I wanted to share now so that in a few months when I’ve had more chance to play, I can see the difference.

I actually used a stamp to create the leaves, and I’ve created a video for the process which you can check out on Altenew’s video hop TOMORROW over on my YouTube channel!! It’s been a while since I’ve posted over there!!

I’ll give you a close up look at the paints and a couple of tips that I found were helpful when it came to getting a better coverage. I used hot press watercolor cardstock for my card, and the Leaf Clusters stamp set (including the sentiment). I liked the idea of a blended background to get used to color mixing and showcase some of my fave colors from the set.
