Hi there crafters! I’m excited to be showcasing Altenew’s latest Fine & Dandy release which features everyone’s favorite hot foil plates, as well as dies and stencils – woohoo! You hopefully were sent my way by the amazing Virginia Lu but if not, I recommend you head on over to the Altenew Blog to start at the beginning of today’s hop.
For my first project today I’m featuring the Delightful Flowers Hot Foil Plate. These are actually great for coloring in as well as using with stencils overlaid. I foiled the plate with my Glimmer Machine using Gold hot foil, overlaying the plate off the edge of a panel of X Press-It white cardstock.
I then used my Artist Markers to color in the florals, adding darker colors for depth, and trying to avoid coloring over the foil if I could as it can remove it if there is too much alcohol over it. I then outlined the florals with a pale gray and added white gel pen highlights.
I added lots of Jet Black Ink splatters and stamped a sentiment from the Craft Your Life Project Kit Endless Florescence, then backed the piece onto a white notecard to finish.
My next card features the new Fancy Enjoy which I die cut from a scrap of cardstock that I had watercolored and hot foiled a LONNNGGG time ago and couldn’t bear to chuck away. I layered it onto several layers of white cardstock to create a thicker piece.
I then used the Fine Rings Circles Hot Foil Plate and layered three of them onto a glossy white cardstock panel using Gold Glimmer Hot foil, overlapping the circles to create a base area.
I thought the card needed one more layer, so I die cut an older standalone floral – Festive Clusters – from hot pink cardstock. I adhered it directly onto the white hot foiled backdrop, and popped the enjoy on top with foam tape. I embellished with a few iridescent and Satin Gold sequins here and there to finish.
My next card features the Marble Hot Foil Plate. I glimmered it onto a panel of glossy white cardstock in Gold Glimmer Hot Foil. As this cardstock is glossy, I thought I’d try a little alcohol ink. I used Mountain Mist and Wisteria, dropping it on top of my panel, adding alcohol blending solution and then blowing it with hand air puffer (used for cleaning lenses). You can see in parts it actually blasted away some of the foil, so if you dont’ like this look (I actually really did!) then just do your hot foiling second.
For the centre, I used the Label & Tags 1 Die Set, and stamped it with a sentiment from the Endless Florescence set again, then adhered it to the front of my alcohol ink panel with foam tape. I also slipped some gold thread through the hole at the top, pulled it taught, and adhered it to the back of the panel before mounting to a white note card .
My final card features the new Scallops Cover Die. I die cut it from Spicy Yogurt cardstock and overlaid it onto a panel of white glitter cardstock I’d custom made with double-sided adhesive sheets and white glitter. I also added some glossy drops into several of the curves for a bit more shine.
The floral is from thh Castle Garden stamp set, whicH I colored in with Artist Markers then die cut out ( I stamped the image with Permanent Black ink onto white X Press It). I popped it onto the front of the (now dried) panel with foam tape, sandwiching a messy nest of gold thread in between, and scattered a few Satin Gold sequins to finish. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.
