Hi Everyone!

Gina K has a brand new release tonight – woohoo! There is so much to see and be inspired by, so be sure to check out all the fun over in the Facebook Group!

I’m playing with the Botanical Leaves stamp set tonight, and just LOVE that it has a huge Monstera leaf in it. I have a few of those plants around my house and so of course they were my go-to leaf !

Using embossing ink and my MISTI, I stamped the leaf three times onto a panel of watercolor cardstock (I’m using Canson XL) and heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder. I decided to do some watercolor resist, working on one leaf at a time. I first filled in the leaf with clean clear water using a water brush. I then dropped into it a dark emerald green watercolor brush marker, along the stems and veins, letting the dark green color wick out. Before it dried, I came back in with a paler green and blended it out here and there, keeping it a little rough and sketchy to match the leaf style.

When it dried, I came in again with the dark green and added a litle darker areas in a few places. Around the outer edge (and the dots in the centre) i used a bright yellow, outlining the leaves and then pulling out the color with my waterbrush until the entire panel was covered. I also added a few splatters of green as it dried. When dry, I stamped the sentiment which I think works well, even without the ‘Thank You’ in front of it (and it fitted perfectly in the space I had to create a one layer card!)

I mounted the panel onto a white notecard using double sided tape to keep it flat and called it finished!

Be sure to head on over and check out the new release at Gina K Designs now!
