Hi everyone, a new month is here, and it’s time to welcome in March with the latest addition to the Altenew Build-A-Flower family – the Giant Bellflower! After roses, I think my favorite type of floral are the tulips and bell shaped florals and so I adored this new BAF when it landed in my household. It layers up really easily and is just gorgeous. Thanks to the Altenew Card Blog for sending you my way. Stay tune for the next stop on the hop and giveaway details!

I created two cards with my Bellflower today, one with the expected layering stamped look, and one with one of my favorite easy die cutting techniques.

For my first card, I stamped all of the layers of the Bellflower. For the petals, I used the Sugarplums set of inks, and for the leaves I used the Tranquility set of inks (the paler inks). The outline was stamped with Jet Black Ink and I made sure to leave a minute or two between stamp layerings (by alternating the leaves and the petals) to get the best layered look and avoid the inks blending together. I then die cut out the flowers with the coordinating die.

My background was created by first heat embossing the Rustic Linen Background stamp set in Pure White on white cardstock. I then ink blended Nimbus, and then Dark Night up from the bottom of the panel towards the top. The embossing ‘resists’ the ink and a fun blue ombre linen look is the result! I trimmed it down to 4 x 5.25″ and popped onto a white notecard.

I mounted the Bellflower in the centre and heat embossed the Congratulations sentiment in Pure White embossing powder on Jet Black cardstock, trimmed it out and popped it on top. I love the letter spacing on this sentiment – super classy. I finished by adding a few Satin Gold Sequins here and there and mounted the entire panel onto a white notecard with colored craft foam to finish.

For my second card, I cut two panels of A2 white cardstock and die cut one of them with the Bellflower outline die. I adhered it over the top of the other panel and secured with some Satin Masking Tape. Using the Sugarplums ink set, I blended each of the colors over the die outline, going from light to dark. I then arranged the outline stamp over the top and stamped using my MISTI. I used Antique Gold Pigment Ink, and by using the MISTI I could stamp several times to get a good clear outline.

I removed the die cut panel and voila! A gorgeous silhouette of the Bellflower, highlighted in gold. I finished with another simple white heat embossed sentiment, and a few Satin Gold Sequins.
