Hi everyone! I have a fun post today featuring two of Spellbinders January 2022 Collections – Into The Wilderness and a new add on for the Open House – Spring.

I’m featuring colors that remind me of Spring in both my kinds – those pastel yellows, pinks, purples and greens that are like Easter Eggs and perfect for that cute little bunny in my first card.

This card uses the Open House Door Base (sold separately and a MUST) and the Open House Spring set includes a new ‘Hoppy Day’ sentiment, floral wreath, bunny and sunflower. I first chose my card colors, using my scrap drawer and Alabaster from the Spellbinders Card Shoppe. I also used Mirror Gold for the door handle and letter box. I die cut out all of my pieces first before I pulled the card together

I dry embossed a panel of purple as the base, using the February 2022 Embossing Folder of the Month ‘Sketched Floral’ – with the debossed side face up.I then added my door with a layer of foam. For the windows, I backed them with some yellow, and stacked four of the frames on top of each other. Before adding the fourth layer, I used Nuvo Crystal Glaze to ‘fill up’ each window panel and then left it to dry. I then adhered them into the window areas. The door step is kraft cut it with the new ‘Hoppy Day’, and I added a shadow strip (from the Open Door Base) in a slightly darker craft. I inlaid the Hoppy Day in purple to tie in with the background.

I popped a little pink envelope in the letterbox, which I coated with Clear Wink of Stella, and scattered a few purple flowers like they were cascading down. I also added the wreath and all of its flowers over the top. I added a drop of Nuvo Dream Drops to the centres then set aside to dry.

I die cut the little bunny from pink and added cardstock behind his nose and eyes. His tummy and ears are kraft. He comes with a balloon and string, but I actually used the sunflower petals in the set to create a big flower for him to hold, die cut from yellows and greens to tie in with the wreath. Don’t you love those cute little whiskers? I popped him onto the door mat adhered the flower. To finish I added a few iridescent sequins and some silver ink spray splatters. My daughter Ruby has already taken this card and set it up in her bedroom next to last year’s Spellbinder’s Easter pop up card!!

My second card feature spring colors using stamps. I’m featuring the Being Around You Wreath from the Into the Wilderness Collection. I also paired it with a few leftovers I had from earlier card-making sessions using the January Collections!

On a panel of white cardstock, I used spring colored inks (by Catherine Pooler Designs) to stay a fully covered background using the small floral stamps in the set, until the entire panel was completely covered. I then trimmed it to 4″ x 5.25″ and adhered it to a panel of pale blue cardstock that I had glimmered with the Yana’s Blooms Collection Diagonal Glimmer Stripes in Gold Glimmer foil. This was left over from a prior crafting session and actually has the entire centre die cut out (and a few booboos where I didn’t foil well enough – all covered up!) I finished my background with a few gold splatters.

I die cut another piece of white cardstock using the Becca Feeken Fluted Classics Rectangles. I then stamped it with the main wreath from the stamp set in a pale gray ink so it just has the hint of the wreath. I stamped the sentiment from the set in black ink over the top, and then layered it with foam tape onto the centre of of the flower panel.

I also decided to add a left over gold mirror hexagon die cut from the Yana’s Blooms Geo Foliage set and glued it behind the central panel. I finished with a few Fashion Gold embellishments to glam up that centre panel.

I hope this inspires you to star breaking out those spring colors – and also how to use up ‘leftovers’ from prior crafting sessions!
