Hello there folks! I hope you’re all managing to have a relaxing weekend! We have some contractors in and it is LOUD! Earbuds and cardmaking are required!
Today I’m featuring the December Spellbinders Small Die of the Month – Sketched Florals and Frames. It’s a set packed with whimsical and delicate dies that create a frame outline and then outline (or solid) florals and outline leaves. You can die cut the solid and then layer the outline on top like I have, or even inlay pieces to create multi colored images!
For my card I first did all my die cutting. I die cut the solid backgrounds of all the florals first, from pink and kraft shades of cardstock, and then added a little dimension with some ink blended around the edges. I then die cut out all of the outlines from white cardstock and adhered them over the top. I also die cut several of the leaves and branches. I blended blue ink up on the leaves, fading out to the tip, and spritzed the branches with gold metallic shimmer spray. I also die cut out the main frame several times from white cardstock, once from gold mirror and layered them together.
On the florals, I used Nuvo Crystal Glaze and added drops into each of the little wells, pulling out with a pin into the corners. If you do accidentally go outside of the ‘wells’ you can simply die cut another white outline and adhere over the top once the glaze dries. Before setting aside to dry I added some sprinkles of Unicorn Glitter and a drop of Nuvo Dream Drops into the centre of the flowers. When dry, the excess glitter simply brushes off!
I then went ahead and adhered my frame onto a white 110lb notecard. I arranged all my main flowers with foam squares and glue, slotting in the branches and leaves here and there. The sentiment is from the December Glimmer of the Month set ‘Botanical Crest’ glimmered in Gold Glimmer Foil and popped up in the corner to finish!
This is so sparkly in real life – a perfect set for giving this technique a go!
