Hi Everyone!

Have you checked out the amazing July collection releases from Spellbinders yet? There’s a huge range of holiday themed collections, many of which features products you could use all year round, not just in winter and Christmas. My post today features products from several of these collections, all with a non-traditional color combo. I just love purples and pinks when paired with black and silver, and have created all of my cards with that color combo, to showcase the new goodies, and also how you can jazz up holiday cards with non-traditional colors .

My first card features the Spellbinders Christmas Slimline Collection – the Circle Kaleidoscope Slimline dies. The kaleidoscope dies are awesome – they layer on top of each other to create intricate patterns. By changing up the colors you can get different looks. Here I created a black base layer from the frame, and then die cut the circle pieces with pale pink cardstock (at the back), mirror silver cardstock, then a darker pink, blended with a little black ink to add depth.

I adhered the circles with liquid glue onto the base and then mounted onto a white slimline notecard. I also added the ornament toppers with a foam square, die cut from silver mirror cardstock. For my sentiment I’m using the new Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Glimmer plates. These are great for hot foiling in ‘bulk’ and die cutting out for use on all your cards, which is exactly what I did for all of my cards today. I hot foiled them in one go onto black glossy cardstock, using Matte Glimmer foil. I finished this card off with some Color Essentials gems in the centres.

My next cards feature the Trim the Tree Collection. I love the silhouette of the large tree and it comes in a fab layering stencil, which also matches with the glimmer plates and dies.

For my first card, I used the Layered Christmas Tree Stencil and added snow to a panel of black cardstock using Journey Modeling Paste, then set aside to dry. I then die cut the solid layer from the O Christmas Tree die set fro pale pink cardstock, then ink blended hot pink and a little black ink to create an ombre blend. I also die cut the star from the set and lightly ink blended a little hot pink ink and popped it up on a foam square above the tree.

I then die cut the detailed layer of the tree from silver glitter cardstock and adhered them together. When the modelling paste was dry, I adhered the tree with foam tape and embellished with Silver Mix Color Essentials gems. The sentiment is from the bunch I foiled at the start.

My second card uses the rest of the layering stencil – I created a black base layer blending black ink on the main outline onto white cardstock. For the top layer I used hot pink glitter paste and just LOVE how it looks! I blended the star on top in hot pink ink, and overlaid it with silver glitter paste. I also added a few metallic silver splatters, then finished with a sentiment and a few Color Mix Gems.

My next pair of cards features the Tis The Season collection. These Bottle Brush Trees dies are just adorable don’t you think?! For my first card I die cut them from my non-traditional color combo, using Black Glossy cardstock, and hot pink and pale pink glitter cardstock, layering them together with liquid glue.

For my second set of Bottle Brush Trees, I created both layers in the same color, pale silver glitter cardstock, to create an almost 3D look.

On the background for both of my cards I glimmered the String Lights Background Glimmer hot foil plate. For the silver trees I used Lavender Petal, and for the black and pink trees I used Espresso Bean which is a really gorgeous dark brown foil. I popped the trees onto my backgrounds with foam squares, added the sentiments, and a few crystal mix gems to complete the look.

Finally to finish today’s set, I’m featuring these sweet little guys from the Be Merry collection – these Holiday Gnomes can be colored in, but I chose to keep them monochromatic, stamping in black ink and trimming them out, then mounting them against a hot pink background, created by repeating the heart stamp from the set.

I popped on the sentiment and it could be left at that. However I felt it needed a little something else so decided to give. the Gnomes pink beards and hair! Why not?! I finished with a few silver color mix gems.

I hope this gives you some ideas on how you can pick a color combo and just CREATE! I created all of these cards in one sitting and once I’d landed at the color combo I wanted to go with I really found my mojo! Have fun, and be sure to check out all of the new releases from Spellbinders this month!
