Hello crafters! I’m sure you just hit my blog as part of my stop along the Altenew Glint & Glimmer new release hop – but let me re-emphasise the yey!!! and woohoo!! Altenew has hot foil plates! As a huge hot foiling fan, I’m so excited, and I hope you are too! Even if you’ve never hot foiled, I hope you try. It’s so much fun and the results have to be seen real life! Thanks to Mindy Eggen for sending you my way. If you just happened across this post, I recommend you head on over to the Altenew blog to start.

I have lots of inspiration to share today starting with this card that features the new Deco Diamonds Builder Stencil set. This pattern is created with two layering stencils that overlay (or you can use each on their own. I used Strawberry and Pale Mauve Crisp Dye Inks, and added a mist of Iridescent Shimmer Ink Spray for a sheen.

The gorgeous patterned piece is the new Sunburst Doily Hot Foil Plate. I did all of my foiling today using the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, which works with the Platinum 6 die cutting machine. I have more info on foiling with the machine here including a video. I foiled the gorgeous image onto glossy white cardstock using Aura Glimmer Foil, and die cut it out with the coordinating die.

I lined up the die cut at the bottom in the centre and adhered with foam tape, snipping off the overhang at the bottom. The sentiment was stamped in Obsidian Pigment ink and is from the Sparkle Bright stamp set in the new release. I added a few gems to the doily to finish.

My next couple of cards feature the main image from the Sparkle Bright stamp set, and this one has a coordinating hot foil plate! (And die). I started by first foiling the plate onto Bristol Smooth cardstock using Blush Glimmer hot foil. I then lined up the stamp on MISTI and heat embossed the outline using Golden Peach Crisp Embossing Powder.

To color the image, I used my Artists watercolors watered down to create a pale pink and a pale yellow color, deepening towards the centre. When finished I die cut with the coordinating die.

I used the same colors for the background, and painted them onto my Stamping Mat. After spritzing with water using my fine mister, I smushed watercolor cardstock into the paint, dried it, then repeated a couple more times. I then dry embossed using the new Tree Bark 3D embossing folder. I trimmed it down and mounted to a white notecard with foam tape. I then popped the flower on top.

The sentiment is the new Congrats die, cut from vellum and 110lb white cardstock. I coated the latter in embossing ink, and heat embossed TWICE with Golden Peach. I adhered the layers together with glue and popped over the flower with foam tape. I finished with a few Satin Gold sequins. Can you see how that hot foil shines ?

My next card also features the Sparkle Bright set. I stamped it in pale gray ink onto hot press watercolor cardstock and painted with my Artists watercolors for a no-line watercolor look, then die cut it out. I also heat embossed this sentiment (from an older set ‘Enchanted Iris’) in Pure White embossing powder on Jet Black cardstock and trimmed it out.

For that fun little background, I hot foiled twice the sprinkles plate from the Tiny Patterns Hot Foil plate set, using Mini Rainbow Stripe Glimmer hot foil. I popped the sentiment and flower die cuts onto. top with foam tape and snipped off the excess – which I then added around the sentiment. I finished with a few Satin White sequins.

My next card features the gorgeous Gilded Rose Hot Foil Plate and Layering Stencil. This is a huge rose and the stencil and foil plate can be used separately and together. I foiled the rose with Magenta Glimmer hot foil and then used the stencil to add in the colors. The inks I used were from the Spring Bouquet Crisp Dye Inks – Magenta, Fuchsia and Baby Pink. I then fussy cut out the image.

For the background, I pulled out the wiggly plate from the Tiny Patterns set, and foiled them twice onto glossy white cardstock with Matte Gold Glimmer foil. I trimmed it down and mounted onto a white notecard, mounting the rose with more foam tape and trimming off the excess. For my sentiment I spelled out ‘LOVE’ using the Caps Bold Alphabet Die Set, cut from Brushed Gold glitter cardstock and backed onto pink craft foam, slightly offset. A few enamel dots finished the look.

My final card for today uses the Gilded Rose Hot Foil Plate again, this time foiled in Matte Gold onto patterned paper – I love how this looks! I used the Celebrations 6×6 paper pad, adhered it to white cardstock for studiness (after foiling) then fussy cut it out.

I created a background with Sea Glass and Puffy Heart Metallic Shimmer Sprays and then adhered the rose with foam tape, trimming off the excess. The sentiment is the Fancy Kisses die (from an earlier release) die cut from Celebrations patterned paper (and white cardstock) and mounted onto the rose. I also added a coating of Diamond Stickles to let it stand out and add sparkle – and I couldn’t resist a smattering of Satin Gold sequins to finish.
