Hi everyone! I just hit a milestone – 40!! Interesting spending it in lockdown here in Westchester (9 weeks and counting). I had a lovely evening sipping rose gin cocktails and watching movies with my family. And actually, add some crafting in and I’m happy.

So I do have a card to share today! I created it as part of my Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP). Today I’m focusing on the Celebration: Stencil Techniques class which is taught by my awesome friend Laurel Beard and I highly recommend it. It gave me a chance to use the gorgeous new Altenew Sweet Spring stencil.

I decided to use the colored embossing paste technique Laurel shows in the class. I haven’t done this in SO LONG and this stencil is a layered stencil so provides the perfect opportunity to layer colors. I decided to stencil onto Altenew Spicy Yoghurt cardstock and use pinks to color my paste. I used Altenew’s embossing paste which is opaque white. The inks really lighten when you mix in the paste and you can add. more ink. to deepen the colors. I used Puffy Heart for my first layer, mixing it with the paste on my craft mat and spreading it over the stencil which I laid over my panel at an angle. I then flipped my panel around and repeated. As Laurel notes, the paste can dry on hard so I washed my mat, knife and stencil and set it aside to dry for about 45 minutes (grab a snack!).

When it had dried, I repeated the process, this time with Cosmic Berry. I. used the other image on the stencil, laid over my original stenciling, to add contrast and depth. Once again I cleaned everything.

While my panel was drying, I created my sentiments. I die cut the Fancy Hello three times from co-ordinating textured cardstock and silver mirror cardstock and adhered them together, slightly offset for a stacked look. I popped this into the centre of my panel with foam tape. My sub-sentiment was stamped in Cosmic Berry (you can really see how much darker it is without the embossing paste lightening it). The sentiment is from the new Sentiments 2 set. I popped it up on a foam strip and mounted it all onto 110lb Solar White cardstock.

That’s it from me – I really love how this turned out! I’ve shared a link to the class below, you should definitely check it out – so many stencil ideas!!
