Hi Everyone!
I’m excited to be sharing two cards today that I created using the brand new Stained Glass Bouquet Collection by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders.
This collection features beautiful die sets that have intricate outlines almost like stained glass windows – that you can use just the outline, or fill with colored or metallic cardstock to create a finished ‘window’. Just gorgeous!
My first card features the Sweet Rondure die set. I used the main die without. the outline, and die cut a window in a panel of pale pink cardstock, then trimmed it out with a rectangle die from the Nestabilities Essential Rectangles.
I flipped over the cardstock and added acetate to the back, and used a double layer of thin foam tape to outline the ‘window’, creating a pocket to add sequins. I added a sequin selection to the window, then backed it with some coordinating patterned paper from an older Spellbinders card kit. I mounted the entire panel onto a white notecard.
On the front of the card, I used the flowers and leaves in the die set to create a stained glass. looking bouquet, using white cardstock and metallic gold. This inlaid look can be achieved by die first die cutting an outline die only to create a base layer, then die cutting the outline die with the the coordinating stained glass inner die together to create the outline itself. You can glue this to the base layer, then in lay another die cut. I arranged my florals at the front around a sentiment created using a sentiment from the Heart Melt Sentiments set, glimmered in Matte Gold onto pale pink cardstock. I finished with a few Fashion Silver Embellishments.
My second card features the Deco Bloom die set. This set is a larger scale card. All the pieces can be cut out individually, and fit together, or you can use pieces of the card layout. I chose to focus only on the central layer to create a standard A2 card. I die cut the main piece that features a wreath using silver glitter cardstock, as well as several of the roses / leaves.
Using the same technique as I used for the roses on my first card, I created a stained glass look again. For the roses, I used pale pink cardstock, and a little pale blue cardstock for the leaves. For the main wreath I used the pale blue, some metallic white cardstock, and white cardstock. It did take some time to piece it together but I think you’ll agree it was worth it!
I adhered the roses onto the front around another Heart Melt sentiment, using foam tape for plenty of dimension. I finished with a few Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems, and then popped onto a white notecard, leaving borders either side.
I just love this stained glass idea – great for inlaid die cutting.
