Hello friends!

There’s a spring feeling in the air, the days are getting longer and there is a new release from Gina K Designs just bursting with new growth and floral prettiness! I am delighted to be joining in to share some new release inspiration today!

First up is the glorious rose – featured in the new Always Roses stamp set designed by the amazing Arjita Singh. This is a gorgeous set with lots of white space to color however you choose! I went with no line water color for my card. I stamped the main rose image in Whisper Amalgam ink onto Arches Coldpress watercolor cardstock which is a really pale gray ink perfect for watercoloring. I also stamped the main rose again onto some Masking Magic paper and trimmed it out, then masked off that rose and stamped the leaves and buds as well.

I used pan watercolors to color the rose and a large size round brush (size 8), coloring each petal or leaf with clear water, then dropping in the colors, then letting them wick out naturally, maybe helping a little with my paint brush. When each dried, I went in and painted again another layer to build up color and maybe add some details at the. petal edges to look worn or ragged or crinkled.

I added darker contrast where the petals or leaves folded or curled, or overlapped to add shadow and dimension. I also added a little detail on the leaf veins. I covered the background in a very pale wash of gray blue, and then when dry, added lots of black, brown, green, white and pink paint splatters for good measure!

To finish, I stamped the sentiment from the set in black ink directly onto the panel (using my MISTI to get a really solid image). I like how you can build up the sentiments interchangeably to add different sayings! The Love You was stamped on white cardstock and mounted for a little dimension and interest, as well as to ensure it stood out from the rose petal. To finish I added a few dew drops!

My next card features some really springtime florals – daffodils! I love when those in my garden start peeping through! This set is called Best of Luck designed by Hannah Schroepfer.

This. card is a little easier to create. I heat embossed the main florals onto a panel of rustic cream cardstock in gold embossing powder. I then ink blended up the panel using spring bright inks – bright yellow, orange and corally red just along the bottom. The heat embossing resists the ink! I decided to see if I could actually also color in the daffs to make them pop more and it worked! I used a couple of shades of green, a yellow and a paler brown to add conrast and roughly colored them directly over the ink blending. Doesn’t it look so bright and spring-y!

I die cut the Hello die for this one from gold mirror cardstock, and adhered it just along the base of the die so that it slightly lifted away from the card panel. The sentiment is from the Always Roses set again, popped up on a strip of foam tape. This time i finished with a few sparkling yellow jewels!

These sets (and MANY MORE) from the new release are available in Gina’s store now. My links are below. Enjoy the spring!
