Hi Everyone! It’s the first of the month, and that means it’s release day for Spellbinders monthly kits. I think this one has to be my favorite Glimmer kit ever! It’s so innovative and cute!!

This kit features a rainbow that you can foil including both the rainbow outline and the scalloped inner ‘bows’ of the rainbow. Those bows fit perfectly inside the outline foil plate too (you can see in the picture above) so you can foil them together or separately! The kit also includes an outline die that cuts the bows out (separately), three sentiment plates and a small cloud die. So CUTE I can’t even. And PERFECT for the new Rainbow Glimmer foil! Swoon!

I just had to use that rainbow foil on my first card. I used a panel of Navy letterpress cardstock. (I like to use cotton letterpress cardstock for glimmering as it gives a beautiful impression and coverage). I die cut it with the etched dots from the Spellbinders Essential Rectangles Nestabilites. I do any panel die cutting first before glimmering to avoid flattening any dry embossing from the glimmer plates.

I then glimmered twice. First I used the rainbow outline and the ‘Over the Rainbow’ sentiment and glimmered them in my favorite Matte Gold foil. I then lined up the separate bow plates over the outline and overlaid them with tape to hold them together and ran them through a strip of the rainbow foil. Such a beautiful effect – be careful on lining up your rainbow foil so that you capture all the colors you want! When I removed the plates I left the tape on them so I didn’t have to line them up again for my next card.

To finish, I mounted the panel on a white card base with foam tape, and I added two die cut clouds (cut from white cardstock) with foam adhesive. I coated them in Stardust Stickles for some sparkling rainbow precipitation!

For my next card, I used the rainbow outline die and die cut it from FSJ Gold Mirror cardstock. I lined up the rainbow die cut on a panel of pale grey letterpress cotton cardstock trimmed to 4×5.25″ and popped the curved sentiment from the set over the top. I then removed the die cut and glimmered it with Gold Foil.

I used the still taped etched rain’bows’ and foiled them onto a watercolor panel I had created a while ago with pinks and greens from my scrap stash with the same Gold foil and then die cut them out. I kept card clean and simple – I adhered the foil outline under the sentiment with liquid glue, then popped the foil watercolor ‘bows’ in place with thing strips of foam adhestive. I mounted the entire panel on gold mirror cardstock to create a tiny border and then adhered it to a white note card. Classy don’t you think?!

If you haven’t yet grabbed a sub to the GOTM club, this could be a great kit to start off with – simple but so cute and lots of different ways to use it in an uncomplicated way! Plus that foil! For those of you who already have this beauty winging its way to you in the mail, have fun!

Enjoy!
