Hi Everyone!

I’ve got a fun video to share with you today featuring the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System. I got this shortly after it was released and have been playing with it a lot lately, as Spellbinders has released more fantastic plates for it – especially all of the gorgeous scripty sentiment plates.

I’m using the August 2020 Glimmer of the Month to create my cards, which features three fun ‘Crafty’ sentiments, as well as a crafty image strip that you can foil twice to cover a full background. You can join the club now and save 10% Off the purchase of the Glimmer Hot Foil System

Check out my video here or over on YouTube.

My favorite foils for the Glimmer are Aura, Matte Gold and Black. I use them all in these cards and other than Gold and Silver, I’d suggest these are great ones to get to build up your stash.

The cardstock I used is linked at the end of the post and I highly recommend grabbing some if you’re using this system. It’s 118lb Brilliant White Savoy Cotton Letterpress cardstock. I got mine from cutcardstock.com. and it looks super classy, with a gorgeous debossed letterpress look after foiling. I also recommend getting some extra long fabric scissors. They’re super sharp (careful!) and great for cutting the fine foil.

My card above features Matte Gold, and Pink Glimmer foils. The photos really don’t do this card justice. I love how you can layer the foils over one another – like the pink over the gold – see that close up below.

My second card uses watercolor cardstock. I’m using hot press as it’s less textured and therefore more likely to get a good foiled impression. I added a purple and pink wash with my Altenew watercolors, along with some ink smushing onto the cardstock and dried it well, before foiling.

I foiled the arty image twice to create a full background (rotating to avoid it looking like a repeat pattern) and foiled with Aura foil – this is a gorgeous gold holographic rainbow foil. So pretty in the light. I then used one of the crafty sentiments and overfoiled again with Black foil. Perfect for sentiments! If you get a few areas that don’t quite look black enough, you can use a Copic multiliner or Sharpie to color it in.

I die cut the panel with the Nestabilities Essential Rectangles, and the Nestabilities Essential Labels to create the dots in the centre, which I backed with Black Licorice cardstock, black craft foam, and then mounted to a white note card.

I hope you do check out the system, it’s really fabulous, I love how these turned out and can’t wait to play with it some more!
